This one got a laugh out of me. I’m sure it’s ideal to have but in Phoenix with a 3080 my normally 78 degree room can get up to 85 while gaming and that’s with an undervolt.
You know that >70°C do nothing to youre gpu, right? Even >80°C would do nothing…
No other game makes my undervolted 3080 reach 76-77° as D2R does. It’s just insane. And the game doesn’t show anything special on screen that justifies that, because graphics are quite basic. Just for reference, playing RDR2 all maxed out at 4K, GPU 98-99% load, I reach 69-70°.
Forget about GPU drivers, forget about fan curves… This is clearly a very bad game programming and really poorly optimized. And this issue was already present in beta as I have read now, and they didn’t fixed nothing. Shame on you Blizzard.
My gpu has been destroyed by this game. I no longer have a working GPU.
Thousands of crashes over hundreds of hours of playtime are what caused it I’m sure.
The constant errors crashing over and over cannot be good for GPU’s
How does one see what their temperature is
id just set the fps limiter to ~monitor native refresh rate.
no point pushing more frames than the monitor can take.
or vsync i guess but streamers have been telling everyone vsync is bad for years heh
My little GTX 1650 SUPER runs at a nice cool 45°C (113°F). I know. I know. It is not a $3,000 graphics card. Yet, it kicks butt for its class.
Showny, my 2070 laptop bricked while playing D2R and died immediately after a crash. It’s in RMA.
Bro I’m playing this on a crappy 970 and it doesn’t even get past 60c. (Frames drop but I blame the card)
Who tf has had their gpu die while playing this game? You sure you are not confusing it with New World?
My RMA window closed in August. Lucky me… >_>
the 30 series cards have been having these problems on other games too. That amazon MMORPG made headlines with how many 3090s it bricked, apparently because it was running uncapped FPS at times and some 3090s have horrible self-protection so they literally bricked hard (not just ‘shut off’ and made you restart your PC, but the card was completely killed without a chance of recovery). Seems NVidia dropped some balls in their new generation cards, or at least certain manufacturers did when making the cards. I think they found one particular brand was the worst one, because they were using substandard parts. Not quite gigabyte power supply catching on fire bad, but still bad
I went down this rabbit hole with a friend the other day, as he was having issues with his computer.
Yes, the game has memory leaks that crash the app, among other issues.
This isn’t a real thing. Unless you’ve intentionally changed configs to overclock your CPU/GPU into oblivion, this literally can’t happen. Meaning: this isn’t a thing.
errors have literally zero effect on the GPU. It’s an application crash.
Not putting it past Blizzard to release a game that can destroy computers, but that’s not how hardware works.
5950x AIO
Sapphire 6900xt AIO
Gskill 32GB RAM
Seasonic 850W PSU
Max settings, no frame rate cap, vsync on.
All stock hardware settings except DOHP RAM profile on MB.
Playing D2R would randomly shut off the computer (not in town but while questing). I played cyberpunk, Witcher 3, D3, etc. and daily applications (video conferencing, word, etc.) without this ever happening. Max GPU temp D2R is 35C. GPU load mid 90s.
Blizzard had me reinstall drivers, memtest, etc. still had random shut downs.
Found a similar thread to limit frame rate and so far so good. I’m at 120fps currently. Max load is now low 80s. I feel like the GPU was spiking past my 850W PSU and causing the shut downs.
There’s nothing wrong with your GPU running above 70c. They’re rated far above that
There’s literally no issue with going past 70*
That’s the dumbest solution ever, just crash the game. How about just throttling the gpu down if it hits 76*? Also 76 won’t set your card on fire.
Again useless, even if you have the card OCd all of them have throttling setup from the factory. So if it gets too hot, it will nullify your OC and just run as cool as it can.
that psu sucks for one and 2 5950X and a 6900XT with only 850W OC’ed id assume LEL yeh ok kid lets add RGB and fans and pumps …
u need 1000W min ROFL some times when i see just crap build’s i want too cringe so dam hard
I play in a meat locker so my temps are great.
But thanks for the tips OP.
U have nothing to worry about at that temp even 80 ur more than fine. U should worry if ur hitting 85+
well, any bit helps. the game takes 5-8GB of vram. even on a 3070 you can only run 3 instances… I’d like to figure out how to chop down that VRAM usage
