There is also all the other games like league that will always be more popular than D2.

I wouldnāt go so far as to say an entire community of streamer fanbois boosting a streamer with donations of high runes and other gg and clearing baal waves while the streamer solos chaos and another person finds the streamer an xp shrine before he joins for the 5th wave is āas intendedā.

Their goal as a team is to help said streamer to reach lvl 99 first. It is what it is. When you dedicated a large portion of your life to a game, have a huge supporter background, donated money for charity, built a community because youāre good gamer, entertainer you can compete on that level. And than you can complain about a fair race. But I guess by that point you would not care anymore.

I agree it is what it is, and thatās fine, I just feel like saying thatās āas intendedā is probably a step too far (especially since D2 and its ladders came out before streaming was even a concept).
I really donāt understand this āpeople are exploiting mentalityā. Unlike D3 there really is no significant leader boards that matter. Being the first to 99 is kind of meh. For the majority of ladder players they have no intention of getting to 99. The biggest benefit to ladder in my mind is 1) trying out new builds and newly introduced rune words, and 2 starting with a semi fresh economy (instead of coming into the game 2 months after release and being ultra poor). Itās the fresh start opportunity that at least for myself that I value most. I did not start playing d2 remaster on release and once I did start playing I stuck to single player since I felt to far behind. This ladder has given me a chance to start with everyone else - which is nice.

8 Player bonus is just that, doesnt matter what the 8 players are doing.
There is no SSF loot, so being gifted stuff by strangers, or besties, is allowed
