Ideas for console experience - controller

Hi folks. After playing Diablo on the console for a while, I have a few thoughts that could improve the quality of life while playing.

  1. Quick jump when selecting a teleport location. After selecting an act, there is no way to go to the last, (often used) place in the location quickly (you have to move manually from top to bottom). Suggestion for circular transitions or implementation of LB/RB buttons as a quick jump between the first and last location.
  2. Quick sell / move things around. It would involve eliminating the button holding time (on Xbox X) to sell or move an item. Ideally, this would be optional  E.g. with the option enabled by pressing X you immediately sell, move, etc. or there is another button used for this. Especially useful when reorganizing your inventory. As a prime example, the time-consuming flipping of runes or gems when reorganizing mules.

Let me know what you think about it

Terrible ideas.

I know teleport is jank on console (try running an enigma summon necro, instead of your lame sorceresses), but that would be awful.

I’m not talking about teleport as a skill but waypoints.

Alright, not meaning to offend, not my intention…

But do you even realize what that would take to put in pre-destined telport points?

You do realize there’s like 20 different layouts for EACH AREA?

Besides, no one needed this 20 years ago, don’t need it now.

I don’t think you’re understanding…

Sounds like he is suggesting that in the Waypoint Select screen (to select Cold Plains, Stony Fields, etc) that, say you were farming the Countess, instead of having to scroll down 5 spaces to get to Black Marsh and teleport there, if ā€˜Black Marsh’ was your last accessed Waypoint there could be an option to simply press RB on the Waypoint Select screen to either immediately scroll down to the Black Marsh selection or to automatically teleport to the Black Marsh Waypoint.

Personally I think this would be a fine little addition, however there are other things that I think are a more important fix. But I’m all for it.

As for the quick-move option by clicking rather than holding X. It would be risky as sometimes items sold to the store do not appear in their shop screen to buy-back; maybe just decrease the hold time by 50%? Or add a ā€˜buy-back’ tab in shops in case there is an error? As long as any change to this can be toggled in the settings than yeah, I say it sounds good.

Buy back option would open up some dupe method. Disagree on that concept. Let’s take soj sold to make dclone. Are we going to make exceptions on which item next?

Discussion on ideas is ok. But think about the pros and cons on every side of the dice.

You mean, it could potentially cause a short term dupe method?

As for your SOj problem…
1: Cube it instead to count towards Dclone
2: Warning: ā€œAre you sure you want to sell, this item is not eligible for buy-backā€
3: Buy-back list is only available until you close the shop window; when fully removed it would count towards the SOJ total sold.
4: Buy-back list is only available for a set time-limit; when fully removed it would count towards the SOJ total sold.
5: Halve SOJ drop-rate and remove this whole ā€˜sell to summon dclone idea’; he can invade at random times that are roughly equal to its current ā€˜summon’ rate.
6: Require selling SOJ while in the ā€˜Gamble’ shop to count towards dclone; which automatically removes sold item.
7: Go to a forum, tell others that they need to think of every potential outcome from an update, then only list a single potential outcome; then sell the SOJ.

I never mention short or long term or use that word. I said it can open up some type of dupe method.

And I don’t have a soj problem. Putting words in people’s mouth would just extend the unnecessary conversation and derailed OP post.

I just don’t think you’re ideas work for everyone. And I’m not interested discussing about it. But I enjoy reading.

…what?

You originally said, ā€œBuy back option would open up some dupe methodā€ (which, there is no guarantee of that, hence my use of ā€˜potentially’). Then you later claim that you said, ā€œā€¦it can open up some type of dupe methodā€ and say I’m putting words in your mouth? It looks like you’re trying to take words out of your mouth lol. Those 2 sentences are very different.

I never said you mentioned short or long term… I said it. I said short-term because if ā€˜potentially’ there was a dupe method from a buy-back option, it would probably get fixed pretty quick… since this is an online game.
(as if you can’t currently buy-back most items sold to the store right now)

You clearly used soj being sold to the store as an example of your rejection of the idea without thinking ā€œabout the pros and cons on every side of the diceā€.

This is only a reply, don’t take this as a discussion as I’m not interested in that sort of thing.

Again, I’m not interested in personal attacks. Say all you want. No need to reply to me and derail the topic.

@Manpole
That’s exactly what I meant. A quick way between selecting the first and last location available for the act. Those 1.5s or so of scrolling would be saved.

As for the second point about selling: as I pointed out quick sale/move item should be optional. E.g. by adding a toogle button like there is for terror zone, so that you can turn it on and off when needed

These things do not seem particularly difficult to implement and would raise the gaming experience a bit.
