Hi,
I’m currently doing a Fire Wall/Frozen Orb sorceress and my cold damage has been getting less and less powerful as I go through Hell difficulty. So, I want to put more points into cold and less into fire right now.
Would it be better to put more points into Ice Bolt? Or should I continue with leveling Cold Mastery? Right now I have level 1 Ice Bolt and around level 7 Cold Mastery.

Take a look, this is the frostorb damage with different combinations:
440-456 (20 ice bolt 1 in resist)
534-564 (1 ice bolt 20 resist)
519-547 (10 each)
but!
Ice Bolt synnergy wich is 2% is only given by hardpoints (actual points in the skill)
Forzen Orb and Lower Resist however profit from + Skills.
So with +10 to skills from gear it looks like this:
969-1015 20 ice bolt 1 in resist
830-870 1 icebolt 20 resist
977-1024 10 each

If Ice Bolt synergy only works with hard points, why is putting points into ice bolt better with 10+ skills?
Also, where did you get those numbers for damage?
Because base dmg of orb and -rez is increased by skills so putting hardpoints into Ive Bolt has a higher impact on total dps.
