I Tested Summon Druid with Necromancer

This test tell why Summon Druid is Suck

Druid uses 101 Skill Points(20 Raven, 20 SWolf, 20 DWolf, 20 Grizzly, 20 Heart of Wolverine)
(I choose Dire wolf when i test)
Necromancer only uses 41 Points (20 Skeleton, 20 Skeleton Mastery, 1 Amplify Damage)
I only use Amplify damage I didn’t used Corpes Explosion (This will make it more comparable)

They are Same Lv 99, exactly same gear(Shako, Enigma, HOTO, Spirt, etc) and Act2 Might Aura Merc are same(Fortitude, Andariel, Obedience) (Only difference is Druid’s Merc using Reaper’s toll for Physical immunity)

Test gonna be Time check to All Clear Monsters in Chaos Santuary include Diablo
I tested 3 times each

Result is not surprisingly

Druid - 5 min ~ 5 min 20 sec
Necromancer - 4 min 20 sec ~ 4 min 40 sec
There was almost 1 minutes between them
Necromancer didn’t even use Mages and CE
Like i said this is why Summon druid is Sucks

I’m not judging Blizz Devs They are pretty good so far
Also They lately fixed Raven’s hit scales This is definitely Good ways, But this is not gonna solved primitive issues
They need More Damege buff pets and all wolves and bear summon at once include all barbs
Even then they are not better than Necromancer.

Please provide the raw times for each of the 3 runs for the two classes. Thanks.

This sounds amazing for summon druids, don’t think they could even clear the game before? Let alone one of the toughest level 85 areas in the game solo, congrats summon druid, I’m sure they are happy for the big improvements!

Now we just need to show summon druids that there is a skill called poison creeper and rabies and if you bite the monsters once, it spreads a very power poison effect to all the monsters to make all your summons kill the monsters faster - even a 1-pt investment with +skills would be a very good addition of AoE to the build, like a necro’s corpse explosion almost?

You can clear CS in Hell on live with a summoner druid with A1 merc with Edge runeword bow or a2 Thorns with reapers.

Thorns rapes Diablo as he slaps around your grizzly.

It can even be done naked, just takes a while… Can literally hide behind the pillars to avoid all damage during the final fight

i am not saying it is fast but it is not “cannot clear the game”, video is made on live server not PTR Diablo II: Resurrected Summoner Druid 90 Chaos Run (380 MF, 48 lvl Grizzly) (before 2.4 patch) - YouTube

Yeah, it’s your merc that’s carrying you through CS, not your summons

Although, I suppose the HOTW is making a small contribution

Not after this new patch, it won’t! Thorns was a slow crutch I used on my new, naked necromancers. If that is what is needed to give a bear clear speed and take out the boss… yikes. I never played a summon druid past late nightmare because it killed so slowly I just got bored with it. The necromancer I can push because I know the corpse explosion and curses make it hell viable… but the druid? Hah. No.

Hybrid summoner druids have been a lot of fun. It only takes 25 skill points or so to get a decent bear on your wind druid or werewolf. This is one of the few things left that still functions as a hybrid since the synergies were added. This and a summoning necromancer.

But a pure summoning druid? Hah. I never got a 5 minute clear time with him anywhere, to be sure. I also never tried with a full set of elite gear, though. I always find it amusing when people talk about balancing skills when they test it with level 40+ on the skill or spell. Like… really?

It is not okay for a spell to only work once you get past a threshold of level 37+. I’m generally not going to fiddle around with something hoping it will become fun someday. That stinks of poor game design to me. There are far too many spells and skills in this game that feel weak for the midgame (skill levels 18 - 28 or so) :frowning:

Yeah, I was referring to 1.14. PTR Thorns is garbage.

The developer solution to summoner build was originally to make him a caster so that tells you all you need to know about what’s coming down the pipeline

The big difference from necro, and the problem whit Druid, is that druids don’t have a dedicated skill that makes summons more powerfull. While Necro has the Summon Mastery, druids have to rely on the soft point synergies. And necro can also debuff enemies. So Yeah… There will never be a summon necro like summon Druid.

Ive been comparing Necro & Druid summons in Hell mode running Chaos, Worldstone Keep 2, cows & some Pindle runs. I am not happy with where summon Druids are at either.

The issue that I havent seen mentioned in this thread is that the Necro has so much more protection - none of the pets “tank” that large of a group and as a druid my pets could rarely engage enough monsters to protect my wisp let alone protect me. Trading significant AOE damage for safety kinda seems to be the name of the game with summoning- and I dont see the appeal of the summoner druid as it currently exists on PTR other than maybe novelty or class fantasy.
