I really Hope blizzard Intend to scrap D2R chat UI and create a new one for D4…

The one they created for D2R is a major downgrade from the original one

Not only it’s always bugged, not showing what people say

But it’s also badly designed

The whisper system is bad and unintuitive

There’s a lack of !message

The interface and text looks like it’s for a StarCraft game

This paired with the friend/join game request has to be hands down the worst system of D2R

Really hope D4 goes for a completely new system

A more transparent text box with thematic contours

A more Glauque font, colour and size choice for the text

Traditional functionalities like ! To talk over your head, /whisper, /join, /invite

Friend/join request to pop in the chat with an interactive accept/decline

Ps: And for the Love of Anu! Rework that damn profanity Filter

You have people sharing Bastard Sword and it gets blocked by the ridiculous system

just re-add the ttp, ww, and the dots where they belong…posted it long ago

while its design for lobby…could easily be implement for in-game as well

Lobby is horrible and outdated but what you linked is equally horrible

People dont need to have colourcoded games for time… being in description like now is fine

what the lobby truly needs is a progress indicator

like console lobby, you can create a game with an objective

“Baal run-01” set as a baal run on creation

then people who look at the game description can see if baal waves have been cleared

another example

“Act 1 norm” set as Andariel quest game

If andariel has been killed, the system switches to the next furthest quest in progress

that way people know without wasting time joining where the progression of the game is at

knowing how long a game been up should be a solid indicator for progress of it

there also a filter option to discard baal runs rooms with more than 4 mins elapsed(most run are over in 3 mins)…dont need to see dead rooms

for walktrough if there a high lvl in it = auto know its being handled
if there no high lvl in said room = 18 mins or less = potentially need rushing still…while at 10 mins or less definetly still need rushing

edit: also tell me how having mass options to view which msg are displayed worse than the single type we have now ? unless your concern is that after leaving//creating a room it default back to base(which should not be the case)

what more do you want ? isn’t being able to view all msg while typing game-chat better ?(aka like old chat system)

edit 2: only thing missing is the ! to view chat overhead to already be better than old d2 chat system(although on the pic i linked its for the lobby which is why no ! option there)
but that lobby system already translate for in-game too…just have to add the overhead chat type as well if thats whats your displease about

True, but they need to modify their fetch to include this information on the first pass rather than requiring another query after clicking on the game. It’s slow, and a good game will easily fill up before it loads the uptime. Greedy (In)Active-Buzzard cutting server costs at every corner except for banning botters.

a green bar would scream “fresh room” and wont require any clicking to be done(if you saw the pic i linked)

while other colors are more usefull for walktrough//trade rooms…as well as indicator for likely outdated rooms

Did they ever have as good of chat room/clans/ ect in Bnet2.0 that they did in og bnet with SC, D2, Wc3?

I don’t remember the start of SC2’s UI but after the big overhaul in 2016 or so it seemed pretty decent to me with clan support and channel support.

Really sucks that D2R chat/lobby UI is an afterthought. Chat still bugs and the lobby is basically the same as it was in the Beta.

Your first mistake was thinking they were capable of making D4 good. I’m sorry for your loss.

You know, it probably is. It’s very likely they just reused the stuff they already had for Starcraft Remastered.

What I personally would also like to see in the longer term, after the fixes you mentioned, would be some sort of clan system. I remember back in D2 people needed to buy 10 Warcraft 3 keys just so they could have clan channels. Meaning it is a feature people wanted (and were even willing to spend money on) but never truly got. Most other Blizzard games have a clan system of some sort, it wouldn’t be otherworldly for them to give D2R one too.
