I really dont understand why we cant get an Act 6

I mean, you could basically copy and paste assets at this point and create a map larger than any other previous Act within a couple weeks. We dont need any “new” mobs, lots of options to recolour, but they could have different abilities of course. E.G the Frost Yetis in act 5 could have arctic blast or hurricane, and like some of the trav council mobs could use Armageddon, and Spiders with poison explosion, Ghosts with Fireball and Firewall, ect you get it.

So take 2 weeks and make an Act 6 expansion already with a cool boss and some lore. Drop in some new Uniques, they arent that hard to copy paste and type in some fun stat mods. Nothing needs to be fully designed.

It’s like free money, and the players will love you for it.

Things are not as simple as that. You might like such “new content” others won’t and nevermind I would love act VI, I’d rather live without it, then have a quick-mashed soup of “something”. I haven’t waited 20 long years for that one, my apologies. In order to have a good act, you need more than a copy-paste and paint-over job, serious game developers know that very well.

doesnt mean low quality. A decent designer could make maps far better than what we currently have. When i speak of easy and quick, i mean they wont need the time to create new objects, sounds, and animations, which take the large majority of time when making the game. They can use the abundant amount of current assets and we wont complain. We wont complain because that is much of what D2 is. Reused assets recoloured, but the layout and designs are phenomenal and we love it.

What would Act 6 even be about? Doesn’t Diablo Immortal tell the story between D2 and D3?

Also while I’d welcome being proven wrong, I doubt they would allocate the budget for a new act cinematic.

Add onto that the concerns others have raised that they’re pretty inconsistent on managing the existing content (for example, RIP werebears; and creating Mosaic rather than fixing underlying problems with martial arts). I don’t have a lot of faith in the team to create a satisfying Act 6.

Its far from just copy paste, you would have to conpletely rebalance game for that, leveling, items…

Also they would have to make everything in old graphics on top of that.

  1. New cinematic.
  2. New voiceovers (if the old actors are still alive and available)…
  3. New lore that does not only change D2, but probably D3 and D4 as well.
  4. Changing how the Act5 portal works.
  5. Rebalancing monster levels in each difficulties, because in a proper playthrough now you spend more time in Normal and Nightmare, you get more levels, thus you become significantly stronger than you would be and moving to Nightmare from Normal, and Hell from Nightmare would not pose any difficulties for you anymore (or at least not as much as it was originally intended).
  6. We do need new mobs, otherwise it would be a bit boring to get the same thing that you already saw and it would be probably too difficult/not doable for legacy graphics.

One problem, there is no money in this idea! What incentive do they have to sculpt the game how the players want? I mean at this point, canceling D2R might be the best option despite its many fans.

well, let’s try to forget about Diablo Immortal, but even if we didnt, there are stories that could coincide with it, you dont have to follow a one world ending story at a time guideline.

there’s so much room to insert it into 75-90. heck they could push the cap to 125.

$20 expansion, 5 million players, for less than 3 months dev time. EZ $$

investing in Diablo’s future = priceless

Like, give it the length of the other 3 acts before it, give it another 3 quests and then maybe you should start thinking about act 6

do you really think this would be a roadblock? you think in 3 months they couldn’t get it straight? hell baal slows down around 80, with another act to go, it doesnt seem unrealistic to use the next 20 levels on a hell act 6, and/or push the cap to 125.

I rather Blizzard first finish act 4 and see how they do before they start working on a full act 6.

Its unrealistic to expect an expansion 22 years later! I know D2 LoD is speghetti code in assembly, not sure about D2R. Perhaps not as challenging to expand D2R or maybe it is.

Wtf are you people on about? Suits decide on the diablo franchise and there will be no act 6 or act4 extended, simply because there is little to no money to be made. And even if they did, you should prepare for disappointment, because the blizzard of old is dead for a decade now and is nothing but shell worn by financial executive scum.

Cap cannot be raised that much because of game code. I think its basicly possible to do it up to 115 or something. But again this would require complete rebalance of game. Its not just hell, you have to add that act also into normal and nm and fix leveling there. Its making huge number of new assets in new and old graphic. What would be story? There is so many other things they would have to rework that this is out of realm of possibilty.

But, new maps can be made into existing acts and act4 could be extended with 3 more quests.

Did you ever play Hell unleased mod? Author did amazing job with extending acts quite significantly with also adding nrw places and special monsters.

They are not even done balancing up the core game yet, fixing melee, fixing all broken never used skills, fixing all never unused uniques, etc etc. And considered patch 2.6 they seem to struggle doing that to the point i doubt they ever will.

And you are questioning why we can’t have a new act, basically an entire new expansion in middle of all this? You serious?

give me 12 days and $50k and i will literally have this game balance working as smooth as salsa on a taco Tuesday.

I’d be pretty happy with them finishing the rest of Act 4. We have space for 3 more quests and a whole bunch of WPs. The rest of the Act could be unlocked after Act 5 to be like a pseudo Act 6.

I had an idea involving going into domains of the other 4 defeated Evils (Andy, Duriel, Meph, and Baal) and destroy/retrieve/seal something in each to try and prevent them from returning. The domains could also have elemental themes (Poison, Cold, Lightning, and Fire, respectively).
