+(1.875 per character level) 1.875-185.625% Damage To Demons (Based on Character Level)
Adds 5-30 Fire Damage
-20-25% To Enemy Poison Resistance (varies)
20% Deadly Strike
Prevent Monster Heal
+2 To Mana After Each Kill
+10-15 Life After Each Kill (varies)
The main reason that Grief is super powerful is due to adding flat damage instead based on the weapon’s basic stats. This break the balance between the weapon damage vs base attack speed and the balance between 1 hand weapon and 2 hand weapon. It also adds much more Minimum Damage than % Enhanced Damage (%ED).
So this is my idea for fixing it:
instead of “Damage +340-400 (varies)”, change to “+310-370 To Maximum Damage (varies)”.
Remove: +10-15 Life After Each Kill (varies)
Add: +140-180 To Minimum Damage (varies)
my suggestion on Grief affixes
35% Chance To Cast Level 15 Venom On Striking
+30-40% Increased Attack Speed (varies)
+310-370 To Maximum Damage (varies) (nerf the amount)
Ignore Target’s Defense
-25% Target Defense
+(1.875 per character level) 1.875-185.625% Damage To Demons (Based on Character Level)
Nerf mroe damage. Its minimum value has to come down some how. Cant just be hitting for 300minimum with all % modifiers applying. It has to between Oath and BOTD.
I think most if not all the changes in 2.4 were well received by the community. I think Blizzard could strike the right balance for nerfing Grief while buffing other weapons.
It could also be melee skills which are buffed, rather than weapons. With Grief pegged back, you can proportionately buff ALL melee together, without Grief making further headway into overpoweredness.
Its like a bunch of non shield wearing low defense poor block rate low to no damage reduction crybabies whining about a weapon that they can block or escape from. Just wow…
no, life after kill is an extremely rare affix and it does next to nothing for the builds that “currently” use grief.
but if rabies was ever made viable this is one of the most important stats on it, and is why along with ignore targets defense, the attack speed and the - poision res… greif has always been the best weapon for rabies… even if its only usable in mods like path of diablo where the fixed the poison duration and added 1 more synergy.
if rabies were to ever be fixed losing that affix would hurt it a LOT
if Grief were to ever get nerfed ( which im not saying im for, although i wouldn’t be completely against either)
the safest way to do it would be to nerf the damage to demons
and to make smite not work with + to damage from weapons
i would say greif does “deserve” a nerf yes, but… i dont like your method, and i really dont want to see nonladder turn into “whoever had the most 1.09 items wins” again.
so I’m conflicted.
putting that in any parch notes would have every Lo rune made immediately into a grief so they could keep a pre-nerf version
First the bug that makes the game consider the offhand also a Grief needs to be fixed. Then the mistake made, should be fixed, so that Grief adds it’s damage to max damage. This puts it where it should be with regards to the cost of a Lo rune. 435 dam max weapon with 20% deadly strike.
It is sorely needed, as Grief shuts down so many other, more expensive runewords, they are not worth making. Grief is also a runeword that really doesn’t care much about the base. For the players who love to exceed max damage with ed on base and will pay much for that, the Grief runewords certainly griefs us. It is allright it is there, as it allows a Phaseblade build, using very quick weapons and that is sort of nice, something different, but it needs to be fixed.
Spirit needs to be nerfed hard. This give the player everything ruined everything else. 1 skill, 20 faster cast, 20 faster hit recovery. Make it a starter item.
Hammerdin and Javazon should also be nerfed. Or basically fixed. Concentration should not add to magic hammers, and whatever calculation that has gone wrong when a Java throws her lightning, should be corrected.
Tele should be given 2 second cooldown, every point in tele shortend the cd with 0.1 sec. Level 20 tele is then the tele we have now, a sorc can get it if she wish to invest in it. If a Sorc has skills above 20, Tele should return mana, later skill levels also health.
Infinity aura should be lowered to 1-3, skills from gear should add to level. So tele and infi aura would work like Call to Arms.
That is why I remove it because it does next to nothing for the builds that “currently” use grief.
As a reminder, there are max 7 affixes and Grief already has 7 of them. +#-# To Maximum Damage (varies) and +#-# To Minimum Damage (varies) are two separate affixes. That means I need to remove one original affix in order to add both of them. Since life after kill is not much of current use, it is safe to remove it without nerfing it too much.
There is another way to add min and max damage by using the “dmg-norm” code. However, the affix would read +#-# Damage and there will be no variation in the value.
Being best is one thing. being 3x better than the second best(botd) needs to nerfed.
which i remind you botd is strong af.
High def, max block — doesnt matter when a smiter pokes you 2x times and you dead with 3800 life.
Also i have high end pvp pala with 20k def & 75% block. No way to win against grief unless you join duels where grief isnt allowed.
when a wep is 3times better than any other item in the game,it needs nerfs. 431-435 dmg 40ias eth and 20ds on a pb with -30 base attack speed item. Grief literally banned from all melee duels etc.
In other threads i explain that pb needs ~1300%ed to match the dmg of grief. 13 f’ing hundred enhanced dmg. NOT COUNTING 40IAS & 20DS & ETH RUNE.
IMAGINE HAVING A RARE PHASE BLADE WITH 1300%ed and 40%ias 20% deadly strike -25% target Defence. JESUS!!!
