I hate Larzuk's socket gambling chance

Just spent last hour or two rushing 4 socket mules, used all 4 on magic 2/20 circlets from gambling, all 4 rolled 1 socket…

Been playing for 2 years almost every day and this is BY FAR the most unforgiving mechanic in the game, in my opinion. If I could change anything, it would be for some way to have another chance at socket gamble. I would go thru as many socket mules as it takes if it means I could eventually roll 2 sockets on my magic circlets!!

Sorry for the rant. Had to get this one off my chest. Have seen too many potentially great items ruined by this.

Maybe a Standard of Heroes recipe could be coded to remove sockets from an item? Sigh… A man can dream…

The game needs a consumable which adds sockets like Larzuk which only drops from the Smith and Hephasto starting in Nightmare… Somewhere around 1% to 2% chance of dropping.

Yea that would be nice as well, although I’m more disappointed with the item getting ruined than losing the time from a socket rush. I can make 16 socket mules in about 3 hours, vs some of these items that have been ruined took me many months, if not years to find…

I thought the number of sockets is based on the item’s hidden ilvl, similar to Crystal Swords in the cow level always giving 4 sockets? (When given to Larzuk)

Magic items can get 1-2 sockets from larzuk; typically used on blue circlets, sorc orbs, tornado pelts, trap claws, etc

That’s only for “white” normal items. OP is talking about magic “blue” items, which have a 50/50 chance to get 1 or 2 sockets.

This. More than random sockets I hate the fact that you need to make throwaway characters and rush them just to use that socketing.
