"I can't find stuff even with 700MF QQ"

Figured i’d give a real life example (ie i’m not a streamer sitting in front of this game 18 hours a day getting fed gear and keys all day) of what an effective even if off-meta farming character could look like.

I’m not showing this to flex, my character is actually worthless in term of value lol, its kind of my point.

But i still managed, while building this setup up, to accumulate quite a bit of wealth both iG and on the big bad website that shall not be named (sitting at around 12k Forum Gold right now, never spent a dime on it), so figured why not show my “everyday joe” setup and maybe show people that the game really is working as intended.

This is a Melee Assassin build, i used the “uber killer” version of it as my original template but tweaked it a lot in the details to my liking. I can do every zones in the game but since i don’t have enigma, i focus on the zones i can easily reach on foot.

Who are Shenk/Eldritch + Trav Council + Cows + Pit runs. I also occasionally do Chaos Sanctuary powerfarming runs but i don’t include it in my normal rotation as i need to equip my Tele staff for it instead of good old Harmony that i use in my normal runs.

If i can consistently find at least 1 item worth selling/trading every day, playing anywhere between 3 to 5 hours a day on this. There’s absolutely no reason you can’t either.

Dry periods will happen, its the nature of RNG, but huge loot days will happen too. All this game is based around is probabilities, and they by nature tend to even out. Its like a casino without the intentional rigging in favor of the owners. Just plain old maths.

Hope this helps some people

MF has diminishing returns and the sweet spot is 200-400 if I remember correctly, and its not that hard to get to that point. Going for faster kills instead of massive MF also helps a lot as you are clearing a lot faster, and get pretty much the same unique MF

Its start at 200 for uniques. Which is usually what i aim for personally on most my characters, sorcs can get away going up to 300-350 cause they get a lot for free on some of their good pieces but i personally don’t see a major difference.

Yes, MF gains look similar to a turbo torque curve, starting to peak around 200-300 with minimal gain up to 500-700 and beyond.

MF always has a diminishing returns for uniques, it does not “start” at 200% MF. With 100% MF you already have 71% of effective unique MF. It’s just MF vs. your killing speed, the more MF you can get without sacrificing your killing speed, the better.

Yeah but the problem seems to be that some people are reporting having unusually good luck, whilst others are saying they’ve had some kind perma-dry spell since the game was released.

I don’t think this is simply QQ. There are too many people reporting these two extremes. It almost looks like some accounts are being flagged at times to get lowered drop rates or something.

I’m starting to wonder at this point.

Just found herald of zakarum 196% and 4OS griswold’s redemption with 190% MF. I think the game is suggesting I should play Paladin

Haha. Dude i was trolled so hard a few days into release, during my Hell walk for quests i dropped Dragonscale, i thought it was HoZ at first, which would have had a ton of value that early on.

Worst part is that Dragonscale is magnitudes rarer than HoZ -.-

I kinda still want to make a meme build around it.

I got an occy with only 180 MF. Thanks to the super awesome roll backs, I no longer possess it. >=(

That really sucks :/.

Big time. I was so excited to get done work the next day only to find I didn’t have it. And I lost several levels and my baal kill on an alt. =(

Yeah, i got not excuse for that, you just got screwed, i was lucky enough to not be online during some of the worst issues, but they need to get that together.

Otherwise, second run of the day off to a good start. 200 MF. Got plenty of time today too, just had a quick exam this morning :).

Also found a Gface and a Windhammer, not high value but def useable items.

I agree with this entire statement, if you have the MF and you are doing the runs there is stuff dropping its just what they deem as a ‘worthy’ drop, if its not beneficial to them, then “the game just isn’t dropping anything at all” currently I have around 450% base, and 630% on switch I find my share of goodies that I usually end up gifting or dropping for others, no complaints here.

I found this statement funny because me and a friend live within the confines of it. He on the luck side me on the, not so lucky side. While the game (and still is) raining on him with items like its D3, I only just managed to craft a Hoto, I believe he is on his 3rd of 4th roll of it trying to get 40res, I didn’t find my first shako till level 89 (currently 91) he got his questing through hell. and so on. I am in no way complaining just giving witness testimony more or less lol

I just had this happen literally last night, doing my runs I ended up stumbling upon some eth titans, shaftstop and stormshield, took it as a sign and in the process of leveling a javazon lol.

one of the items that still alludes me, that is a horrific tale and sorry to hear about your troubles on that :frowning:

The pit giveth

Trading is where it’s at (I don’t use d2jsp though). I have pretty good luck early on but pale on comparison to my friend. However, I am considered much richer than him (he just got full Tals while I was full Tals 4 days into the release). This is because I spent a good amount of time trading and moving assets around. My hammerdin now is pretty much decked out and can solo /p 8 Chaos/Baal. A lot of people don’t even pick up magic gloves to check for 3 javs/20ias or magic monarch for jmod. They just don’t know items’ values (hence the stupid “shako for ber” games).

This is what keeps me from trading, Kudos to you being able to find the people to make legit and ‘balanced’ trades with lol. I just don’t have the patience to sit there and negotiate with someone that, no… your 27% mf chance guards are not worth that Vex your asking for…
that paired with D2R chat not working for me or any of my friends makes it so the only trading we’ve done be between each other lol

Yeah i neither have the time or the patience to deal with that. Next ladder i might try to go through the discord instead but in my experience most JSP users just use it as a simple trade platform with a static currency. I always got item’s worth out of my finds and bought what i wanted using the currency made from the items i dropped, never spent a dime. Its specially nice that you can easily “split” an item (say you find something worth 1500 fg, allowing you to buy 3 that you wanted at 500 each, to make a really simplistic example).

Whatever’s tied to the website at the higher ends of it i do not know or care.

No stars to be found (stars = RMT buyers) except a tiny one i gave them a million years ago (think i threw them a 20, that doesn’t amount to much anything lmao).

kids today want everything handed to them. Instead of simply rolling a sorc and farming meph to mid to high level gear they take to the forums to cry about RNG.

Personally, i blame tik-tok for this sense of entitlement.

That’s why I’m super specific when I’m making trading games. Also constantly monitoring supply and demand of certain items (like shako early) to see if prices going up or down (shako went from a Vex trending down to two ists, SoJ moved up from Vex to almost Ohm level because of the DClone walks took like 200 SoJs from the supply).
