How will we know we're making a new ladder character?

When the clock ticks “LADDER TIME”, since the current ladder is not stopping until then, how will we know we’re making a character in the new ladder or not? Blizzard certainly won’t be accurate to the second.

Your other characters will not show ladder, I imagine, on the character screen where you will choose “create new.” If you have no current ladder characters then I guess you’re f.

I’m more concerned that the message of the day in game nor battle.net app show any mention of new ladder starting. You’d think that would be big and bright somewhere.

That makes sense. So my current ladder characters should revert to non ladder and not have the green icon. That will be time to create a new ladder character.

IF they update that in real time. Which might not be the case.

Hopefully they bring the servers down beforehand so we’ll know when it’s back up.

Yeah they’re practically hiding this ladder for whatever reason.

It’s terrible decision to not end this ladder at least a day before starting new one in the first place, so we at least get some time to clean our stash and make room for new character (if they can’t give us more than 20 char slots, which is also ridiculous given that in old D2 we had infinite slots)

Unless they don’t update that and it’s a client side thing that won’t change until we restart. Who knows. Hopefully there is some indicator that is apparent. Would hate to start leveling a sorc and find out later it’s non ladder.

Make a ladder character now, and when he becomes non-ladder you’ll know.

I don’t think there is any evidence that we know for certain the icon will change at that moment. It’s a hopeful guess, but not reliable.

The servers will go down before new Ladder starts as always.

It sure would be nice if the devs/CMs actually communicated with the people in the official forums, wouldn’t it? Nope, we have to dredge through Reddit and Twitter to get this information. @PezRadar
