How to refund? Too many changes

How is this bad? There won’t even be a ladder right away, and I don’t want to waste my time mfing on NL if you can’t even get the good items.

I agree with the other stuff though, buffing drop rates to the point where the game is a loot piñata like D3 or adding charm inventory would be steps too far.

The loot drop rates are kinda interesting though, as I understand they were originally higher but then Blizzard nerfed a lot of areas to counter botting. Maybe buffing the rates back to what the USED to be would be acceptable. IE blizzard nerfed Pindleskin so that he cannot drop the highest class items anymore because people were botting him.

The SP change is good, it gives you the complete D2 experience for offline, and doesn’t affect the online community.

if i’am the only one doing so , it’s not a real fresh start. (especially if me or everyone still have our chars available to use in that mode)
atleast ladder actually make it a true fresh start.
unless you mean at the start of diablo 2 R release , personally i might wait for ladder to play it, if it’ll come like 1 week later.

as for difficulty , it’s still visible in my opinion. (afterall it’s +100% def , quiet a lot more HP, better A.I etc…)

Hardcore games are still successful in 2021. You absolutely do not need to cater to casuals to be successful. Blizzard is just choosing to do so, because they want more money.

The quote is clear. Ladder items will be in non-ladder permanently.

What do you describe as hardcore games? Yes they have their respected niche markets, but that doesn’t stop developers/publishers from wanting the COD success. Did you not look at Capcom’s track record before 2012?

Tarkov is a fine example of that. But i don’t know of many hardcore games that still exists, unfortunately. Which is why it pissed me off so much if they destroy this one.

Some of the best items in the game drop on both lad and nolad. I don’t know what you’re on about.

So the solution is to change the game so that players can feel like they’re wasting their time farming on ladder?

The reason why this is a bad change is because it’s incoherent with the game’s design, to have a strong distinction between ladder and non-ladder, to have a compelling reason to play ladder other than for fun. It’s designed to have a purpose, a function. Removing incentive rewards just translates to ladder feeling less rewarding, which is not a positive change.

D2 is the kind of game where players need patience. It takes a long time to build the perfect character, whether you’re farming for certain drops or waiting for good trade deals. So it doesn’t make sense to me that D2 players, of all gamers, would be so impatient to get their hands on their favorite items. Just seems so out of character for the D2 community.

Impatient gamers is not the kind of community D2’s design is meant to attract. I mean we waited forever for D3 only to be disappointed, and we continue to wait for D2R and even D4. Waiting is what we do best, in and out of game. Patience is our defining trait as D2 players. lol

It’s not that I’m not patient, but the character builds I want to make require ladder only runewords like spirit and such. One of the great things about the ladder runewords is they provide a lot of practical and easy to make solutions for when you’re starting out and don’t have much. Also I’m addicted to just knowing that something like Griffons or Death’s Fathom can drop off baal. Knowing that those kinds of items are off limits would hurt my enthusiasm quite a lot, I might not even play this game until they added ladder in that case.

Is it that hard to give us remaster of diablo 2 ?!?!!? Obviously, yes :frowning:
Soon it will look like combination of diablo 3 and pd2…

Yes, but just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should.

Blizzard can cater to casuals all they like, and they do-- with their other games. They can make D4 for casuals, whatever. But the whole point of D2R is to be a faithful remaster of the original, so I don’t know why everyone is okay with changing the game to cater to casuals. If casuals hate the game, that’s fine, it’s not for them. The point is to keep the game faithful for the original fans and draw in a new generation of hardcore players.

D2 can still be enjoyed by casuals without catering it to them. It’ll still be a huge success without catering to casuals.

Let Blizzard farm the Asian market with their mobile games, that’s fine. But at least let us have the game we were promised.

so non ladder can have runewords… how does this impact the pathetic leader board for ladder? it has 0 impact on ladder… cry more? too many changes… you named ONE. so let me guess auto gold pick up is also a problem for you. Ladder is an extreme old pathetic version of end game and honestly i dont even know why people buy into it today. If your in the top 10 of your class oh you got some bragging rights just like the losers at the local arcade… but who gives a damn? like literally all ladder is for is a stupid leader board that an INSANELY small amount of the player base even notices or cares about

Yes, this is going to be a vastly different economy than the original D2. One of the biggest differences at least right out of the gate is going to be the absence of bots… Hopefully anyway, and hopefully it stays that way. Everyone has their reasons. It’s your money.

Keep checking back though. The Rogue camp fire will always be there to give you a warm welcome should you return.

Catering to casuals is sheer madness. They will lose interest in the game and move on after some time anyway. Old-schoolers will be disappointed and stick with D2. Nobody wins.

Sounds more like you’ve simply been spoiled in your play over the years. You don’t need Spirit, you just want it.

I’d say Widowmaker is a good example of an item you need for a specific build, like one of my favorites: the Bowasin.

But let’s say you want to play Bowasin right away. So you… want… to… click the Chat Gem and hope your Assassin starts with Widowmaker in her inventory? Changing it so Widowmaker can drop on non-ladder doesn’t make you suddenly have the item you want so you can play the build you want right away. No matter what, you still have to be patient and wait until you can get the items you want for your build, that’s literally the entire point of D2 as a loot-based game. The game is literally designed for long grinds, trading, and PvP.

So why advocate to ruin the ladder experience for those who love it exactly as it is, when you’re still going to have to wait a long time before you can complete your character anyway

I’m loving all these changes. I hope it changes even more. I want D2R to have full 21:9 and 32:9 support. I want to have private loot in multiplayer. All these changes are extremely welcome. It’s 2021 and the game has to evolve. Who gets stuck in the past and museum.

This is a 20 years old game. This is not becoming Diablo 4 and not Diablo 3. If you dont accept the game how it is or … was … just leave.

Edit: And btw, adding content is fine, IF it does not change the core.

If it continues at this rate, I’ll honestly stop caring and hope they change it so much that it’s not recognizable as a Diablo game, just so I can laugh at it as a “faithful remaster” meme and return to old D2.

Figure it out. It’s not rocket science.

Such as Clan Halls, for example. Literally changes nothing about the game.
