Just bought a new PC and installed the game (Classic only). When I run windowed mode, I have no issue. However, when i run full screen, after joining a game, the graphics are completely broken and the game crashes shortly after. I’ve tried running for compatibility for Windows XP Service Pack 3 like old installs but that didn’t help. Anyone know how to get it to run?
Edit: Fixed it, closed
Are you using the glide 3dfx patch?
I see you fixed this. If you aren’t using the glide wrapper, I still recommend installing it.
What is the glide 3dfx patch? I am still having issues with display even though I used the recommended compatibility mode. It either has a wacky display or the graphics freeze and audio still plays.

Hi, I’ve been having the exact same problem and it’s driving me crazy. I refuse to play this game in windowed mode. Could you please let us know how you fixed the problem?? Thank you
Added Sven’s glide wrapper and set it up for full screen.

I just play it in Windows mode on Windows 11 Game still looks fine to me and it adds a little bit of a challenge. Don’t click outside the box lol. there’s no point in installing any unneeded software on my machine for a 24 year-old video game, windows mode is still a working playable version of the game some people are just cry babies
I can’t post links, search for
Glide3-to-OpenGL-Wrapper

Windowed breaks immersion heavily (it’s a tiny 640x480 window on a 55" display for me), and I apparently click off the edge frequently-enough to make windowed virtually unplayable. Limiting yourself to windowed is a bad experience, and that mode is mainly only good for the instant load times for testing
My vote goes for nGlide; it’s simple, and integrates better on modern Windows with DirectX or Vulkan modes instead of OpenGL. It’s a general Glide wrapper, and I compared it with Sven and dgVoodoo recently: Real classic Diablo 2 from a guy that’s played since day 1 - #29 by Espionage724-1903
Sven’s wrapper specifically left Game.exe running in the background on game exit, whereas dgVoodoo nor nGlide do that. And although Sven’s works fine, I know Intel’s OpenGL implementation on Windows isn’t great and like DX through nGlide better.
dgVoodoo I think is a great option for people wanting to switch between fullscreen and windowed!
