How to open multiple Instances of D2R?

Hi there,

The Battle.net Launcher allows to open multiple Instances. But when i open the second client (with another Account) it’s not possible to start D2R. If i copy the game to another destination and change the path both clients sync that.

Is there any solution for multiple instances yet?

A virtual machine.

Why do you need that?

Have You tried it or You just think it works?
Because I tried to run D2R on VM - it takes a lot of time just to start D2R itself, and I never even could start a game…

Possibility to play solo with additional chars like BO barbs, Enchant sorc, etc.

There are many reasons for what it’s good for. It make something’s a lot easier. For example so I can rush me myself.

VM is not really a solution because it need much power and if D2R work on a VM the performance will be not really good.

I already opened a ticket but they will not give any tips for that.

Good luck with that =) I don’t have a solution for this anyway, I would also try to launch the game using different users but I doubt it will work.

I personally think that something like sorc enchantments are not worth the trouble.

It’s absolutely annoying that this can’t be done right now.

When you say “another account” do you mean battle net account or windows account? One quick way to have multiple instances with legacy D2 was to have 2 separate install directories and use two different user accounts in Windows. I don’t have more than one D2R license so I haven’t tried to do that.

i mean 2 Accounts of D2R (Battle.net)
when you use 2 different windows accounts that would be much uncomfortable for me

Get 2 Pcs

Char minimum

Brilliant idea! I’m so amazed that this though never crossed anyone’s mind! Are you a member of Mensa?!

Then play online with friends???

why don’t you use the /players x (x being 1-8) code, it only works for single player though, this simulates the game as if there are more players raises the difficulty, usually better loot drops obviously more exp and more challenge, i wish they hadn’t separated single player from an open bnet system with this version, not the same game for me based on this

I believe the person is asking so they can get two of their own characters in the game, so they can buff one character with another (BO, enchant) and “self rush” (use their own high level character to rush their own low level character through the game). So in this case the /players x command doesn’t really help them.

That’s correct.

Sad that there is no solution yet. I hope someone find a good solution soon.

I’m glad people that want to play multiple accounts at once, to give themselves an edge over others, can’t do it.

+1 here, got 2 accs and second one says “playing now” so no way to enter, would be great to have it work as classic d2 was or as WoW does

I tried it, but sadly, D2R require dx12 which no VM seem to support, even thought its an over 5 years old technology…

My solution ended up re-hooking up my old PC and accessing it in Remote Desktop via my local network, so basically my old machine acts as a VM but is not virtual… I found no other way in over 24h of trying different stuff.

Need 2 bnet accounts and 2 copys of d2. Problem is you have to alt tab from one game to another. Works better if you have 2 screens but you only get one mouse.
