You can run multiple instances of D2:R if your system is capable of doing so. The only thing that isn’t allowed is using any form of automation to do anything.
The Blizzard launcher has an option to allow running multiple instances of it, meaning you can run multiple Blizzard launchers, each signed into a different Blizzard account, and you can run an instance of D2:R on each one.
Eh, you will likely have some trouble with that. I’ve seen reports of others trying the same thing and having problems with assigning controllers to each game and working on both at the same time. I think the main problem is the game having focus, and two instances can’t have it at the same time. When the game loses focus, all controller inputs are ignored.
Without getting a full fledged PC, you might be able to do it with virtualization and a thin client for remote access. I haven’t done it myself, so I can’t say how well it would work.
Made 3 accounts.
Account 1 and 2 work as described.
Account 3…
When I double click the icon, it automatically takes me into administrator mode (assumption) because the launcher asks me if I want to allow the program to make changes (I have not right clicked and told it to run as admin).
I have started all 3 accounts (on their own/singular) and updated them.
If I start account 3 first, account 1 and 2 are locked out - battleNet says this character is already playing.
I can load account 1 or 2, and load account 3.
I cannot load account 1 and 2… but account 3 will not load.
If I load account 3 first, neither account 1 or 2 can load.
What am I doing wrong?
ETA:
Once I got a 3 up and running, have no idea what I did to make that happen.
ETA2;
For some reason, once 2 accounts are up and running, battle net update launcer starts -restarting- continuously not matter how many times i end task - from tas manager.
well how about launching D2R without touching the launcher at all?
simply put a properly crafted shortcut is not only able to start D2R without the launcher, but is also able to automatically set the launched instance’s priority (lower, nomal, high, realtime) and affinity ( a.k.a exactly which cores of the cpu get utilized) and yes the affinity can be set different for each individual instance of D2R provided your CPU has that many cores. so ofor instance if you have 24 core intel cpu:
set 8 physical cores for 1st account
set 8 virtual/hyperthreading cores for 2nd account
set 8 E-cores for the 3rd account
technically D2R instance can go as low as 4 cores per instance with this setting ( lower than that and things become unstable)…
If or some reason You panic about keeping your bnet account details in plaintext, you can get a program that creates a encrypted folder, and is able to launch the shortcut from within it without loosing the encryption. this way your shortcut is secure form hacker paws, and on top of it it’s not even a D2R shortcut ( just a windows cmd shortcut with commandline set to launch d2r), so either way D2R warden does not give a damn, it’s not an in game layer or overlay, it’s just an alternative method of launching an executable, completely indistinguishable for the warden.
not as difficult as you’d think i can go over the detalis if you want… i already did this a couple of times on this forum, so it’s not such a big deal to do this agin, i’ll go over it once agin if you say so…
Please tell me at least theese D2R shortcuts are configured in a proper way, that you don’t have to start battlenet app each time and input the login data?
Properly configured shortcuts get you right into D2R, without the need of even touching the battlenet app at all…
and if you decide to go the deluxe way with each instance utilizing it’s own set of CPU cores i can give a brief instructions of this as well if you want… though i know nothing of your rig so some work will be required on your side possibly requiring windows calculator, to properly configure some parameters. for the deluxe shortcut.
It wasnt working because :
I had highlighted all the files, copied them, then made a new folder, and pasted.
Right clicking THE folder and clicking Copy / Paste directly into a new folder fixed it. Cheers !!!
I found this ona reddit posted dated 1 year ago … Worked for me …
hmmm… maybe… right now loading 3, gets the fan running, and, it’s not super quiet… tho, not obnoxiously loud either. If doing the separate/dedicated core thing helps the strain on the rig, then maybe.
