How to convert HC char to SC?

I play offline with a HC amazon, but halfway through I regret that decision and want to convert this char to SC. Is there a way to do this? Hero editor doesn’t work with D2R yet as far as I know.

Nope you can’t do that. I wish they’d do what PoE did and then you die you convert to sc.

You can use hero editor but it’ll be a bit cumbersome.

You’ll need to download an item pack with character profiles. Open a blank character file and essentially rebuild your HC character as SC.

It’ll be annoying but worth it in time saved.

In the editor you can just remove the HC checkbox, savbe and voila.Works only on offline characters ofc.

I load the d2s file onto the website but nothing appears. Very strange.

Theres 2 files but only one is the d2s, happened to me as well just double check you open the .d2s and not the .ctl or something.

I even isolate the d2s file to another folder, doesn’t work
Btw, the save files are in the mod folder, because I’m playing a content mod. Probably that’s the reason it can’t be opened?

That kind of defeats the entire purpose of hardcore though. If it is not lost for ever at death, it is not hardcore. Its softcore.

you could also just export your items to files and import them again. no itempack needed

I think the mod is the issue here then, I can mod my savefiles just fine.

No it doesn’t, because I was hyped about making the char hc but now regret it, if you even read my opening post. I lost a lvl 90 hammerdin with enigma in unmodded offline already so it’s not a problem of playing hc.

You can use hero editor in legacy D2, make identical character there and then copy save files to d2r.

Doesn’t work that way. Hero Editor cannot open the .D2S file from D2R. The version is different than expected and errors.

I provided a link which is a D2R editor being developped, I made myself a couple of OP chars alredey with it, it is working just fine.

Good point on the items. OP will still need a non-D2R character file which my item pack has. If the OP has classic though that would be a better way to do the entire process =)

Missed that, my apologies.

Will definitely need to check that out as removing that step in my migration from MP characters to SP would be nice ,=)

No worries, I also tried Hero Editor and it gives eror, it seems it is possible to convert D2 saves to D2R but I haven’t tried.

D2R itself can read the D2 Classic files. You just move them into the D2R save folder and it is recognized.

lucky for you, i just happend to make a video for that yesterday lol
