How the TF are you supposed to kill durial

As a sorc he just one shots you before the loading screen is done, this is absolute BS. The boss shouldn’t be able to attack you while you’re stuck on a loading screen. Playing on PS4.

Ah, I see first timer huh

they actually mentioned how this will change on release and to prepare for it in the Beta test. you won’t be able to be attacked while its loading when the game launches.

Q: Why is my character still attacked while at a loading screen?

A: As mentioned in the Technical Alpha Learnings blog, characters will no longer spawn in a hostile place until the game is fully loaded, preventing characters from getting attacked or harmed during a loading screen. This fix is not in the build for the Early Access and Open Beta, but it will be in the game for launch. We didn’t want to delay the timing of the upcoming tests for this issue.

i have been waiting for it too

young padawan there are many ways to kill duriel. but not as a D3 gamer :stuck_out_tongue: (jokin…)
Adapt to the D2 Style my friend or you will FALL!
<3

just my example:
im building my sorceres aound the skill 'BLAZE". and just run away^^ he kills himself  just as Andariel did.

other example:
get your act 2 merc with highest defense possible, give him a nice buffed twohanded Spear or something with lifeleech and heal em with your quickheals (dont know the buttons on playstation) /shift+beltplace for heal.
and set a firewall under this big worm or attack it with other spells.

another example:
that from above and lower his life with the most OP skill ingame ever: STATIC

and most impotant for new players: dont rush the game without any clue about the machanics… play steady and grow up for that boss. my two chars was lvl 21 after i beat Mr “SEARCHING FOR BAAAAAAL?!” <3

and you are right. this IS a big Problem. esp in the Duriel Tomb. but it appears only on bad PCs and Consoles. on my pc my loading times are really short.
i hope they will fix it for the other players.

I agree bro I also cant kill duriel without weapon swap glitch its hard now.

As said above, just STATIC him and joyfully finish him whatever you want.
And welcome to D2…

Yup let’s unfix glitches/bugs in the name of noobs that can’t kill Duriel in normal, such a great plan.

I never go in expecting to be able to kill Duriel without dying, but I somehow managed to do it this closed beta. I used up 20 Full Rejuvs, and drank an equal amount of Thawing Potions. Using ones Teleportation skill down there is difficult because it doesn’t want to register if you click slightly outside of the map; instead of teleporting to the nearest wall, it makes you stand there like a tool. It’s a QoL they really ought to look into, because the game doesn’t behave the way one expects it to. It takes a lot of practice to get it right. But, basically, teleport from the corner on the left to the corner on the right. Some people prefer to use hirelings as meat shields, but I think they’re a waste of effort.

Amazons (bow) actually have it a lot worse than Sorcs due to the lack of mobility.

The game is hard. That is what is so great about it. If you think it’s hard now though, you will not make it through nightmare, let alone hell mode. When you go into hell mode and all of your resistances drop into the minus 20s and 30s, now that is hard. You must prepare for each difficulty. You ain’t seen nothin’ yet!

let your mercenary tank it for you (while healing it with potion) , and fire wall (or anything else) the damn thing :stuck_out_tongue:

using a defiance (defensive) mercenary might help you a bunch on that.

You farmed long enough to have twenty full rejuvs and still struggled with normal Duriel? What char level were you after getting that many? Or did you farm for them on a different character maybe? Honestly I usually go through all of normal and not make more than a dozen full rejuvs heh.

Also the guide to beating Duriel:

they have said they are going to have a “fix” for the loading screen stuff for launch but until then i suggest getting a a2 follower with leech and maybe tombing for a few levels so you can over power the boss, also joining a group game works well usually.

I pick up all the normal Rejuvs along the way, and don’t use any until I need to do Duriel. I start conversion to Full Rejuv when I get the Horadric Cube. I had just farmed Nadir, Stealth and Leaf, so I was probably level 19. I don’t bother with Duriel until I’ve gotten those three Runewords.

Duriel gets easier for me at nightmare and hell, because I stack Energy and use Energy Shield, and gear that acts like Energy Shield where I can’t get Damage Reduction%. Due to it, I have a much higher Health pool than someone who stacks Vitality, much higher Mana- and Health Regeneration as well. I’m eventually free to spam Teleport, Frozen Orb and Hydra without needing use potions. Hydra does a little bit less damage than Fire Wall but, it makes up for it in accuracy.

In the release version you will be invincible during loading screen.

So after sone years of playing the game, I can safely say, duriel has become a piece of cake. The most important thing for succeeding in D2, is to realize, that it is an actual RPG. You can make great progress and improve you char, by swapping out some gear and getting as much life as possible. Some additional tricks:

  • If you are in bnet, do sone tomb runs before killing duriel.

  • duriel hits hard → get faster hit recovery

  • since you will already be in hit recovery, don’t use a shield! It’s additional stuns

  • use thawing potions from Lysander. They give you cold res and stack! So buy 10 potions and chug them all before entering duriels chamber

  • with a sorc, put 2-3 points into static field (but at least one) and get a wand / staff with + static field for the weapon swap, if you are having trouble dealing dmg. Use your teleport!

  • with melee, most importantly, you have to have a proper level. If you happen to have some crushing blow, use it for every boss in the game!

  • with necro, cast Iron Maiden on duriel (he takes damage, according to the melee dmg he deals) and keep casting Clem golems in front of him. Duriel will one hit the golem, but with every golem, he keeps killing himself

  • with Druid and trapsin it’s a free kill, if you are not too underleveled I think

  • with a paladin, either don’t use your shield, or shop a shield with faster block rate

  • make yourself a Stealth rune word! All you need is “Tal Eth” in a two open socket armour.

  • with ele Druid, trapsin and fire sorc, make a leaf!

  • as melee definitely look out for the runeword malice! It makes a world of difference

The first thing to do is make a TP everytime your joining the chamber.
Let your merc block Duriel.
Go back to town and revive your merc & buy new potions.
Rinse & repeat.
Always has been this way.
But don’t stay in town too long since Duriels health will recover if you’re staying away for too long

I never used a merc… it’s quite expensive to revive him all the time.

sorc it’s the easier to kill it…

just static over and over until she is almost death and kill her with any skill.
or use meteor
or use blizzard
these are 3 examples.

this game isn’t WoW where you don’t move and can kill anything, move and attack and heatlh if needed, and repeat, use merc to tank it 1 or 3 seconds while you use static etc…

use the brain for play, this game isn’t WoW or any garbage trash like the modern games.
this is a game where you actually play.

Normally you are not level 24 at duriel… rather 18.

During early beta, I had Deaths Grasps the belt. Wasn’t able to get frozen. With the buff to Duriel, I could actually get frozen, funny enough, First day on open beta, I play my level 25 Amazon with the addition of a 24 Sorc and we both died. Have to admit he got me out of pure surprise. Normally, when fighting Duriel, it’s best to use Guerilla Warfare tactics on him. Especially when fighting him solo. Use ReJuvs, Thaw potion’s, and make sure to activate a TP before you fight him. These tactics should be enough to kill him even on solo.

I really hope you’re not suggesting that I should waste my stats points in Vitality on a Sorceress.
