How many players left

Has anyone got an idea how many players still play D2R? Is it worth for the devs to expend any efforts?

About the same as Diablo 3. Look it up at google Trends.

I would have posted a link/image but the website won’t let me (I don’t know if something linked to my account or the forum as a whole)

Doing some easy extrapolations based on twitch viewership

It was determined that in the first 3months of the game they have lost 97% of the launch playerbase

This guesstimation assumes that all the viewers were Diablo fans, which is unlikely the case. Many viewers could have been just casual players (or even non-players - otherwise why were they watching instead of playing?) which were interested in a “new” game released by a well-known studio.

The correlation was established by looking at newer releases and games of same type which we can have the data from

Multiple game new releases such as POE expansion showed that twitch viewership % drop correlate to steam playerbase % drop

Same thing was seen on other games

That where the D2R pop drop comes from

It has lost like 99% of it viewership by the end of 2021

Of course in doesn’t tell how many unit of players are playing, but it helps quantify the interest for the game

Exactly 23 players left the game and are now successful models for Calvin Klein.

On a more serious note.

I estimate about 80k-100k ladder players in D2R SC ladder LoD. Lvl94 chars are currently in the ranks around 110k.

With what % of that being bots?

Do bots count as players for the playerbase data?

About 10 players left on these forums, most users like Sekscalibure, Bravata, Stanner, TXan, etc, are all multis of other accounts.

About 5 streamers left over at Twitch.

The remaining thousands are at d2jsp.

They count more than twitch viewers…

Indeed

Please point me where I said that twitch viewers =players?

Hmm replying to a thread asking “how many players left?” with twitch viewer stats… 1+1=2.

There was also that other thread weeks ago where you did the same thing.

Edit: Seems like 80% of the player base has already moved on - #49 by Anu-11792

Looks pretty conclusive to me…

Atleast own the crap you claim, this whole flip flop, I didnt say that or mean it that way when your called out… If you owned it, wed atleast respect you as a decent troll, but youre just pathetic.

As there are no public cbaalbots, I estimate that most bots aren’t focusing on farming xp and rather farm items/runes. So I think the amount of bots 94+ won’t even match the playerbase below 94. Also those who have multiple 99 chars this ladder, are compensated by the pure MF and casual crowd.

80-100k players for the most populated mode seem very realistic. I wouldn’t dare to guess the numbers of classic mode or nonladder or hardcore, but all together might double the number of players.

I’ve only ever played single player so

There are 18 people left playing D2R.

prob the same amount of players (and a bit more) that kept the game alive past 20 years.
