Been playing D2 for the last decade or so on PC. I’m hearing good (and bad) things about the controller support for this game and wanted to go buy a controller to try it out. I like the flexibility of a keyboard and mouse but wouldn’t mind some mindless button mashing while I do Pit or Andy runs to give my wrists a break.
Those that are playing on console or have tried controller support what are your thoughts? Also what kind of controller style do you think works best? Xbox, PS, etc?
Pro Controller:
-no hotkey bug
-loot into cube
-better steering
-easy to loot boss drops
-no “aura overwritten by rightclick skill” (Paladin only)
Contra:
-worse aiming, lower range
-imprecise teleporting
-hard to loot single pieces out of a bulk of items
I am playing with an XBox controller, the pros outweight the contras for me.
It makes upset how controller advantage in automatically pick up items very rapidly.
Spacing on teleport is not great
Thanks. I went and got a controller and hooked it up. Let me tell you it is so much more comfortable and relaxed playing on a controller. I even hooked it up to my bigscreen TV in the living room and my 6 year old has been playing non-stop for the last 4 hours. He can’t figure out keyboards and mouse yet but he is loving the controller play for D2R.
There are some small grips like looting and targeting but I can live with it if it means i can lay on my couch and play D2R with my son.
You can only corpse explode the corpse nearest the way you are facing, which is really annoying. Gotta CE about 10nto get to where you want to be.
Tele goes towards a corner, same spot. Same with leap etc.
Most builds have enough buttons for abilities, but a necro with lots of curses, summons etc will be holding left trigger and tapping right shoulder Hutton for less common abilities. Don’t have a to z and numbers.
Themost annoying for me, is if you have frenzy on right click you just hold it and mow down mons. That only sort kf worms on controller, will find yourself swing ik ng swords stationary until you let go of button and run again.
All in all, it’s much worse. It’s infinitely easier to loot with a mouse no matter what anyone says, and there’s literally zero games on Europe hc xbox. On day of release you might get 1 or 2.
If I had a pc that could, I would.
Try vampire survivors if you xbox it. Currently on game pass.
Lastly. It is so lovelt sitting in the arm chair with a fg and a beer playing on your big old HD TV however. Also, some issues with 4k on at least some kf the xbixs, in that you can’t use it on them.
