How does Weapon swap separate skill buttons work?

I play on PC, sorc. I complete my CTA today and see this option to tick. What I intended to do was:
Weapon set 1: f1 for teleport, f2 blizzard, f3 static field, f4 telekinesis
Weapon set 2: f1 battle command, f2 battle orders, f3 frozen armor
This doesn’t seem to work. Anyone knows why? Or have I done something wrong here?

It’s for the skill syou have selected. If you have frozen orb and teleport selected on Set 1 and swap, it will swap the skills to the last ones you had active on Set 2. Then back and forth. It doesn’t give you separate hotkeys for each set. Just active skills.

You need to plug in a controller for separate hotkeys and action bars for each weapon set.

In the options>controls> there are about 6 skill slots unbinded. I usually set those to q, e, d, r, a, Helps me alot. Teleport is always E on every character. etc. TP is always f3. Helps me out alot.

Why not? Depends on what you’re swapping the gear for. You could have your 2h weapon for concentrate and leap attack, then press w to swap to your weapons to boost your shouts, buff, then swap back. Or have Set 1 as Frozen orb and meteor/blizzard, and swap to Set 2 with your shield and fastest cast gear to teleport, or keep different elements ready to go.

You have 16 hotkeys aailable and every class only has 30 skills total (many being passive or unused) + hotkeying the tome of town portal. Why would you need 32 hotkeys?

I use hot keys z x c v d f g I took that from mr llama and I set space to hold position

I use QWERTASDFG for skills, and f1-f4 for less used items.

On topic, I do agree that it’s bad design. Limitation of the original code, and they didn’t want to change too much out of the gate. But I think it’s definitely a good one to have on the “To do” list once they get servers under control.

IF they can get servers under control…since they have to rebuild them from scratch somehow somewhere it may take some time.

Was hoping I could do the same thing as you were trying. Kinda lame that you can’t. I see exactly what you were saying though…
