How do they detect maphack?

the question is, when will they allow us to have static maps in bnet?

It has already been to court for other games. They ruled they do have the right to read memory if you log on to the server in most cases, some nations very. They only use it internally and to make sure folks are not cheating so there is not a privacy violation. They used to read the titles and first few lines of any open window too. You may want to check out the history of Warden, I have no idea what they are using now, but I bet they share some similarities.

The way the old programs like MH used to work in the old LOD was you had to basically “Inject” it when you were ready to Show the map. They probably have it setup to detect as soon as you do that. Then your tagged waiting on the next ban wave.

Same thing with one of the old Item Level Viewers. You would hold the item in the air and mash a key to “inject” and it would give you your item level.

They detect that.

If a person installs illegal software to cheat or alter the game how would they see that without looking for it?
If they can’t look for it in anyway your basically saying everyone can freely cheat. Wasn’t the point of d2r to stop cheating as much as possible? D2 had tons of it so we saw how that goes

How would maphack benefit a player playing this type of game.

I can see how a maphack would benefit someone playing StarCraft or Warcraft III, but this game???

I also don’t know how maphacks work, FYI. But how in the world would such a hack benefit a D2R player???

Keep up the good work Blizzard and keep banning these Cheaters.

You sew map, you see monsters. You will get anywhere much faster because of it. It can have other functions too, old d2 maphack had bunch of them.

The problem is that when we purchase and install a game from the game company Blizzard, we check that we agree to the end-use license.

It is responsible for all illegal matters stipulated by the game company.

Map hacks, cheating programs, mods, auto-hunting bots, etc. All programs not permitted by Blizzard that significantly inflate the game.

For those of you who don’t know what that means, read the End Use License again.

there’s no repercussions for them doing it so they do it. Just like politicians selling out a country to another.

Blizzard doesn’t care about your dirty movies.

Not everyone voted for that politician. Everyone agreed to the terms of service. There is zero leg to stand on, legally, if you agreed to the rules. And you knew you were breaking them when you did what you did. All this posturing about suing Blizzard is comical. It’s ironclad that you agreed to whatever they’re doing. And if there is a loophole, you will still have to explain what you were doing when you got banned. Buy your next copy or don’t but suck it up and quit whining.

I don’t personally use a maphack because of fear that my loot could get blown away after all those hours of effort. By the same token, I don’t see any issue with said maphacks. Look at Diablo 3. You start an area knowing its layout iirc. You just have a fog of war on it.

Seeing unique drops on the map? Not a big deal imo.
Seeing the map? Not a big deal imo.

I don’t know why Blizzard doesn’t just cut the middle zone out and set up a new achievement type thing.

Beat Baal in Hell, you now see the map–for THAT character. That way as you are playing your character through, you still have the exploration factor. Suddenly there’s no need for maphack. All of the other perks like seeing items or pickit/etc would probably more or less go away.

After beating the game so many times, you’re well past the exploration side of the game. Its now about killing things and getting loot. Its been a while since I played D3 because its going to be the Diablo that I don’t talk about akin to D:I—can’t you see mobs on the map too?

Just use the map hack that doesn’t inject and you’re fine.

They allow botting
They allow map reveal

Warden picks up Injections and you get banned. The other map reveal doesn’t inject so they don’t care.

That is terrible advice and outright false. Blizzard does not allow either of those things and if someone gets caught they lose their account.

They absoultely allow botting in the sense that everyone understands they do not dedicate resources to stopping them.

Exhibit world of warcraft economy.
Exhibit D2R economy

You’re to naive to understand the strategy but they do make a killing off of banning every 6months.

Coincidence that there is always a SALE right after the bans?? lol, grow up.

Before you install a game, you will have to agree to Blizzard’s ‘Terms and Conditions’ and I quote here:

" Consent to Monitor. WHILE RUNNING, THE PLATFORM (INCLUDING A GAME) MAY MONITOR YOUR COMPUTER, CONSOLE, OR MOBILE DEVICE’S MEMORY FOR UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAMS RUNNING EITHER CONCURRENTLY WITH A GAME OR OUT OF PROCESS"

They even use all CAPITAL letters so you can locate and read this term more easily but as expected 99% of the players ignore it and click ‘I agree’

Yeah, and 99% of people don’t read it, including myself. HOWEVER, I do employ this little thing that a sizeable portion of the human population seems to lack, “common sense”, which if used, makes the EULA for the vast number of programs a great big “DUH”.

I have since read the vast majority of Blizzards EULA during my time playing their games though. But I know for a fact that I didn’t read it the first time I installed one of their games.
