Can I misspell my rune word? Like the correct order, but wrong slot? Let’s say my shield had three or more sockets and I put my rune in the middle, top, or bottom. Or 4 sockets, I try to put it on top left, but it ends up on button right?
There is no wrong slot.
You put them into the item in the correct order, and they slot themselves.
No, as long as you put them in the correct order, they will automaticly be placed in the correct socet
Please go read a tutuorial or will screw it up. I guarantee it. It has to be the right item (like a sword) with the exact number of open sockets as runes are needed for the recipe. Then drop the runes into the item in the exact order as its read. Also you may want to upgrade the item quality first. Go find a rune recipe list etc, don’t wing it or you will waste runes. Diablowiki is a good one.
If a Runeword says Ral Ort Tal, you need to place the runes onto the item in that specific order.
RAL → ORT → TAL
The physical sockets on an item are not interactable. You drop a rune onto the item and it slots itself.
must have exact right number of sockets to start, 3 socket runeword will not work in 4 socket item…
must be placed in exact order of recipe…
must be placed in specific item base, for example Insight 4 Socket Polearms/Staves cannot be made in a sword/axe/shield/etc…
Here is a runeword guide for you:
