Can someone explain how rainbow facets work? For example, if I’m a cold sorc, do I have to socket the facet into an item that increases my cold dmg skill, such as a death’s fathom or do I just socket it into any gear (wpn, helm, armor, etc.) and it’ll boost the dmg of any of my cold skills?
I’m asking because a lot of posts talk about putting a cold dmg facet into nightwings veil or death’s fathom.

It works in any gear you put it into. One thing to note is that for the assassin the traps don’t get the benefit of the facet because the facets don’t work for minions.
For my fire druid rather than using a spirit shield or making a very expensive phoenix shield i put 4 fire facets into a monarch.

The + damage % functions like fire or lightning mastery while the - enemy res % works just like cold mastery but for any element.
It works on any gear. People mention putting them on nightwings and death fathom because those are cold specific gear and best in slot for cold damage. Since people who have those are clearly dedicated to cold damage vs stacking mf with occy and shako, they should probably want to add further damage to their dedicated cold build via rainbow facets.
