How do people reply to themselves?

I have seen posts where some people are able to reply to themselves or bump their own posts without anyone else posting, but I can’t figure out how. Can anyone tell me how this is done, or why some people can but I can’t? Id rather be able to bump my own posts than starting new ones on the same topic when trading, for instance.

The forums are set up to prevent self bumping threads. You can always edit your posts, but the limits as to when or if you can bump, are in the forum programming.

I don’t think they have ever told us what they are exactly. If you wanted to learn more, you would head to the Discourse forum website. They make the software and have the documentation there I think.

Actualy people with lvl 3 can post multiple reactions.

Can you please PLEASE consider supporting an every account identity confirmation and then an account identity merger? (You own 8+ keys to D2R under a single forum handle)

These forums are filled with players who hold 8+ accounts for multiboxing and reply to their own posts and completely abuse the discourse on these forums.

Basically all those who have been getting 8+ voices are silenced into one identity.

This would go a long way to prevent unnecessary cruelty when you dont have multiple identities to use and throw away at your own leisure.

Please pass this idea on…

Nobody is posting from 8+ accounts. You know why? Because people are not obsessed like you are. You keep on spamming the forums with the same broken record. Please give me /p8 because I am to lazy to play the game.
You see ‘trade empires’ and conspiracies everywhere. You hang on every thread just not to admit to yourself that you are in the wrong. You are no apostle, you are not the voice of some persecuted minority. Just a troll.
Grow up dude.

I would support multiple D2R licenses under one Btag if the stash was shared. The annoyance of people having multiple Bnet accounts though is …minor. It is not something commonly happening on the forum, although a few people do have more than one account. Not agreeing with you does not mean they are all alt accounts of one or two people.

I am more worried about the WoW forums that allow each Bnet account to have 8 WoW licences with up to 150 chars per WoW account. So they have over 1000 characters to post with and each posting char is a “forum account with trust level”. I would settle for just having the forums restricted to posting by each Bnet to start with.

Dealing with manipulation at the Bnet level is a whole separate thing and if caught can get people suspended. Mostly for trolling.

I can confirm this to be true. With TL3 status, you can create a thread and immediately post replies. This is useful if you are creating guides that exceed the character limit of a single post. (10,000 character limit I believe?)

OK, great.
So… how does one obtain TL3?

Relatively simple, but it takes time… Stay active in the forums by reading threads. Spread the  by liking others posts and create posts/topics that others like. Try to avoid getting into heated arguments that may result in your posts becoming flagged. Check the Forum Code of Conduct for further guidelines on expected behavior.

If you check your forum account profile, you’ll see “Trust level”.
Trust level 0 = “New”
Trust level 1 = “Basic”
Trust level 2 = “Member”
Trust level 3 = “Regular”

So… I haven’t liked enough posts? Seriously?

It’s not just the number of posts liked. Here’s a link explaining a bit more details about forum Trust Levels, along with a lot more information:

"

TRUST LEVEL 3

Get to trust level 3 by…

  • Must have visited at least 50% of last 100 days
  • Must have replied to at least 10 different topics
  • Of topics created in the last 100 days, must have viewed 500 topics
  • Of posts created in the last 100 days, must have read 20,000 posts (both starting posts and replies)
  • Must have received 20 likes, and given 30 likes.
  • Must not have received more than 5 spam or offensive flags (with unique posts and unique users for each, confirmed by a moderator)
  • Must not have been suspended (including forum suspensions or in-game account actions of any Blizzard game)

Trust Level 3 users can

  • Create Wiki Posts (more on that below)
  • Post animated gifs, images, compatible video embeds, and links to any website

"

Note: The posts read count differs for each forum based on activity. The WoW forums have A LOT more activity, so the requirement is going to be a lot higher than the D2:R forum.

Right, so I read through the list and… I check all the boxes but (I assume) the likes one. I mostly hang out on the trade forum, so not a lot of “liking” going on there. I can just spam likes on a dozen posts, but getting people to give me likes will take more work.

It’s not really that difficult to get a handful of likes. Jump in and participate in the many threads going on in the General Discussion forum, there are plenty of opinionated posts to choose from. If someone says “Hey I think that this should be that way” and you agree with them, you can not only like their post, but also reply to them agreeing, maybe adding your own opinions relating to the topic at hand. Chances are good they will return the favor and drop you a like when they come back later.

Just be careful not agreeing with people, as it is the prime reagent for starting an argument.

Another good way to get likes is by helping others solve problems. If you’re tech savvy and you see a forum post asking for help which you know the answer to, if you have the time, try to help them. Or if you have a wide scope of general knowledge of the game, you can answer questions people may have about the game.

But… The general forum is all “nerf hdin!” and “anyone who says nerf hdin is a scrub!” and “blizz sucks!” and “nerf/buff/don’t you dare change anything about drops/runewords/game mechanic X” and “whine whine rage whine ignorant comment.”
Icky.

Yeah, well the forum is going to have a lot of that. The game is 22 years old, and was frozen in time for a large number of those years… So with the introduction of changes in D2:R, there are going to be a lot of highly devoted players posting their opinions here.

Not to beat a dead horse, but in this post poster darksideleaf posts twice in a row, and a quick glance at their profile shows they are nowhere near trust level 3. Just their likes given and received count alone would disqualify them. Therefore, I suspect that this is not the correct answer.

I was talking about creating a thread, then immediately replying on your own thread. You can’t do that unless you are trust level 3.

It becomes easier for a non-TL3 account to double post when others reply, because it opens up the possibility of replying to multiple people, which will allow multiple posts in a row by a non-TL3 account.

I am trust level 2, and I cannot post on a thread if I am the last post, regardless of who I am trying to respond to.

Testing.

Testing#2.

(I am TL2 as well)
