How do I get a weapon in D2R?

Been fighting with my fists for like 3 hours now.

I am playing Amazon but none of the weapons work and I don’t have identify scroll and I also spent all my gold trying to get one that will work.

You started out with weapons first off… amazons excel at either bows/xbows/javalins…weapons naturally drop from monsters, chests, barrels, etc or you can buy/gamble from vendors or ultimately trade other players… if you ever get to a point where you don’t have gold just go back to an area that is easy for you to farm. But honestly sounds like you need basic help, go watch some youtube videos or something… the real struggles are when you’re in the late stages of the game so I can only imagine how tough that will be for you if you’re struggling only 3 hours in

I died and lost all my gold how do I get it back?

I had 3000 gold now I have done. Does my dead body have it?

Also is there anyway to save in this game?

Yoooo, read basic d2 game manual…

You’re going to be asking questions left and right about difficulty level, crafting, runewords, itemization, proper attribute & skill tree investment, attack speed/casting speed breakpoint tables, tzs, sunders, etc… D2R is not a modern video game where things are basic and also spoonfed to you in game…for example, besides one runeword that is told to you by a vendor in act 5, none of the other dozens of runewords can be figured out in game, you have to go and research it online. If you ain’t prepared for that then you’ve been warned.

I have a small spoon.
Any gold you have on your characrer drops on the ground after the penalty is applied. In nightmare & hell this penalty becomes much larger. You can pick it back up if you go back to get your body but be careful depending on where you die and if you’re playing in a higher difficulty which also causes you to lose experience, it may be better off to quit and create new game, your corpse will start out next to you but you obviously lose your gold. If you place the gold in your chest, it won’t drop on death but your gold will still get penalized on each death. You can put your gold in one of the 3 shared tabs and that actually saves your gold even if you die, but then it becomes a PITA to keep withdrawing when you need it.

The game is always being saved. Your items, gold, attributes/skills, quests completed and waypoints that you had when you leave the game are all retained. It is generally best to reach furthest waypoint you can get before you decide to quit otherwise you’ll be spending a long time trying to go back through zones you’ve already quested through. Also, common noob scenario, if you have corpses in the game, do NOT equip more items on your naked body because if you end up dying, it will create multiple corpses with separate items. If you then decide to quit the game and create a new game, the game will only present to you ONE corpse thus you will lose any items that you had on any other corpse…so in short, be very careful if you have a corpse in the game…

OH OK THANKS for the info I will also check out a guide

Many great websites out there. Admittedly, a lot of them are not updated for d2r and are really only for classic d2 but most of the basic info still applies.

https://classic.battle.net/diablo2exp/

This has been the most popular site for basic d2 knowledge. But of course keep in mind d2r added a bunch of new runewords, some new cube recipes, a few new mechanics, some set item adjustments and many buffs to trash spells, so the site won’t have everything.

ok fantastic this will work for getting me up to the basics

I have thousands of hours in POE so far but first time D2 this game is way more hardcore than POE

I played PoE quite a bit but of course I had played classic d2 + d1 for more than 10 years prior and I never thought one was more hardcore than the other, to me PvM difficulty is about the same. There are things I appreciate and respect with PoE, but to me it plays too clunky and the skill system gives me a stroke especially after every forced respec…

Interesting I found the skill system in POE to be quite easy to use the skill web was never really an issue after a few tries. POE gives you tons of identity scrolls and stuff, in D2 if you get one every hour seems lucky.

Not complaining about difficulty, it is just a convoluted, unnecessarily complex and redundant system. I appreciate how in depth it is but to me it is also its pitfall…

Scrolls drop pretty often. You’re just in the early part of the game where not much drops in general and your kill speed is slow af… plus once you get a little bit of gold, one of your first major buys from akara should be to get a tome of town portal + tome of identify and have her fill that thing up to 20. And when you complete the 3rd quest for rescuing deckard cain, he will identify items for you for free. Also free tip, sell all staves, wands, sorc orbs that have +skills on them and armors, they net you the most gold from the vendors.
