How Diablo 2 can improve without code changes

If you love diablo. I would reframe from insulting people and putting them down on this forum and in game. This is a place for civil discussions. Not to vent your anger. For diablo to thrive as a franchise we need new players to keep the game alive and to show blizzard it’s profitable to make real sequels too. Imagine a new player coming to these forums and seeing all the toxic comments and legitimate posts being flagged because some players simply disagree with them. If we care about diablo doing well. Act like a community that’s worth being part of.

Your post title is a bait and switch from your post content. lol

No. I believe Diablo 2 doesn’t just improve by the work of blizzard. The community bears some of that responsibility. League of legends turns off lots of players away because of the toxic community. Diablo 2 can draw in new players and keep existing ones by being a good community on top of it being a good game.

Actually it is a bait and switch… Your post doesn’t reflect the title.

title should be more alone the lines of “How the community can improve Diablo 2 by being less openly toxic on the forums”

I believe it does. A good community makes the game better without code changes.

But that doesnt improve Diablo 2 itself.

So no its a miss leading title.

I agree. There are changes that I’ve gotten used to playing on private servers (not ploot) that I’ve grown accustomed to. It was a little bit of a shock diverting back to a small bag, for example, when I played the beta weekends.

It would be nice to be able to have these discussions without the negativity and name calling that always seems to follow. Whether changes are made or not will have zero impact on my desire to play.

I will play this game with or without changes, but I agree. The first change needs to be the community

It does improve diablo 2. Again. League of legends frequently loses players or some players won’t touch the game because of the community and the stories about the community. If diablo 2 had the same problem we would lose players as well. Diablo 2 will thrive off a large player base. That’s what will convince Blizzard to invest more into maintaining it and its sequels.
Think of Diablo 2 as our neighborhood. If we are all jerks and toxic to each other. Nobody is going to want to move in and people will want to move out. Being friendly in-game and on the forum will improve the experience.

The houses that make up the neighborhood dont magically become better if Crime(toxicity) goes down.

The community of the game would improve if it did. But the game wouldnt. Game wasnt the problem the people playing it are. League doesnt become a game I want to play if the community wasnt toxic. I just dont want to play league.

Honestly I think that attitude will go away somewhat after launch. People have nothing better to do than come here and get all whiney and confrontational over a game we all played when we were 12 years old. Once all the kiddies are in game with the shiny pixels it’ll be better, or at least not this level of silliness…

I agree with [quote=“Ubiquitous-1242, post:9, topic:45716, full:true”]

I agree with OP

Game thats badly designed, poorly balanced with a toxic community doesnt just become a better game if its community is less toxic.

Can the Player experience improve? Sure, but that doesnt alter the base game. Fury and Fend bugs arent ever going to be fixed from community feelings parties.

Can community feelings parties or events, improve the player experience for the game? hell yeah. They often do.

But its disingenuous to say that’s improving the game. Because its not. Its improving the Player experience. Those are 2 different things.

If a games only fun while its community props it up with events, then when/if those community events slowdown or stop, then game will again will just be a bad game.

A community can prop up a game. Any game really.

But that alone doesnt make the game better. It makes its player base very unstable.

If a game requires its community to hold it up because it cant stand on its own, any flux in the player base could make it all come tumbling down.

It quite literally does get better. Ever hear of gentrification.

a shacks still a shack even after you evict the crazy guy living in it.

The shack doesnt become a mansion because that person gone.

Actually crime rate does affect property values.

The people that play the game are part of the multiplayer experience. Diablo 2 and all games are an experience. The people you meet in-game can make the game amazing or terrible. Likewise. Single players will visit the forums, they will watch youtube videos and visit d2 websites. Even single players will interact with the community. Let’s just do our best to not be toxic. Im seeing a shocking amount of it already.

I am not saying you shouldnt try to not be toxic but the Game doesnt get better with the players.

The Player experience does. Game isnt changing. How people experience the game online does, but that isnt changing the game.

If you live in a crime rate high area with a leaky roof, if crime goes down you still have a leaky roof. It might change the Perception of your house on the market, but doesnt change the House itself.

Would league be more appealing to new players if the current ones were less toxic? Yes. Does that Change League? No it doesnt. Nothing in League would change. The general Player experience in games in League would improve and more players might be happy, But that doesnt improve League itself.

It’s better though. It becomes safer and better for peoples mental well being. That can’t be understated. For those who have lived with a toxic or crazy person I’m sure, they’ll tell you having them gone is bliss.

And does that change the Shack? No.

It changes the experience the neighbors have with the shack. That doesnt Improve the Shack itself.

Its funny how most people here understand that the OP means that improving the community will help improve the D2 experience, but since hes a known poster and they hate him, they will take his word completely literally and display the toxicity that he is talking about.

I don’t know anything about the OP but I know this forum is filled with toxicity because of the us vs them mentality.
