Hi,
TL;DR summary:
AS IS:
Add 1 socket to rare:
3 x Perfect Skull + 1 x The Stone of Jordan + 1 x Rare Item ( Rare Circlet) = Rare Circlet
Add 1 socket to unique:
no recipe
TO BE:
Add x sockets (random roll or max) to rare:
3 x Perfect Skull + 1 x unique jewelry + 1 x Rare Item = Socketed Rare Item
Add 1 socket to unique item:
3 x Perfect Skull + 1 x unique jewelry + 1 x Unique Item = Socketed Unique Item

Running Larzuk repeatedly is a tired way of doing things. For single player this is even worse, as rushing is not an option.
SoJ is way too rare to make sense using it for this recipe unless in super rare situations. I suggest to change “Stone of Jordan” to either any unique ring/amulet or something similar. The same recipe could work for socketing unique items.
For rare items, I would add the possibility to roll how many sockets will appear - with the option to roll max number of sockets.

Anything I missed? What do you think?

Good idea. I support it.
Stone of Jordan is unthinkable to use either in singleplayer or bnet.
There is quite high chance to drop Nagelring, Manald or other Unique jewelry.
Also I would add Unique Jewels to recipe.
Also I would give the Rare recipe chance to roll 1-3 sockets.

1-3 sockets is too much. But i like the idea of using unique jewelery for socketing.
Finally some use for Mahims and Manalds.
If we are talking about more sockets then can we talk about more imbues
Good point!
We already have recipes that allow you to reroll a yellow item (different from Chari’s quest, but close enough). They could indeed be improved. Recipes from maxroll.gg below.
- New Rare Item of the Same Type (Higher iLVL)
1 x Perfect Skull + 1 x The Stone of Jordan + 1 x Rare Item ( Old Rare Circlet) = New Rare Circlet
Used to “Reroll” a Rare Base Item. The iLVL of the resulting item is: iLVL = int(0.66 * cLVL) + int(0.66 * iLVL)
- New Rare Item of the Same Type (Lower iLVL)
6 x Perfect Skull + 1 x Rare Item (Old Rare Circlet) = New Rare Circlet
Used to “Reroll” a Rare Base Item. The iLVL of the resulting item is: iLVL = int(0.4 * cLVL) + int(0.4 * iLVL)
Only items with size <= 3 x 2 dimensions.
Improvements here could be:
-
Changing SoJ to a unique jewelry or jewel for the higher ilvl recipe.
-
For the lower ilvl recipe, all rare items should be eligible for the reroll.
