Horadric Cube recipe suggestion

Here is my suggestion for a Horadric Cube recipe.

The idea is simple. Sometimes you find duplicate items that you don’t need. It would be great if those items could come to some use. So I propose a Horadric Cube recipe where you can put in an item that you have two of, and transform it into an item that you currently don’t own.

So for example… Say that I am MFing with my sorceress and I am lucky enough to find TWO Harlequin Crest Shako. That’s great and I should be happy, but the fact is that the second one I just don’t need since I already have one. But maybe I am for example still missing an Enigma armor. So, I could then take one of my Harlequin Crest Shako and put it in the Horadric Cube (+flawless emerald) and then I can select from a drop-down menu “Enigma Archon Plate”. Then instead of having two items where only one is useful I now have two items that I can use. And also, it really doesn’t make the game easier because I still have to find the second Harlequin Crest Shako. So it’s not getting free items, it’s just getting use out of the items you find.

And if you want to make it even harder to abuse this recipe, you could maybe even have it so the items need to be the same type. So a duplicate armor is required to get an armor you don’t have. So then you need maybe for example two Skin of the Vipermagi armor in order to transform into Enigma Archon Plate.

Also please note that this would NOT!!! be possible to use to “dupe”/duplicate items. It ONLY works to get an item you DON’T already have.

What does everybody think about this suggestion??

I think you are going to be surprised at the responses to your post. Welcome to the forums

I think you need to go back to the drawing board, as this idea would severely break the game.

HC Shako is no where close to being an equal with AP Enigma. Even if it was, being able to add a gem and select whatever item you want is still game breaking.

Highly against it, it will kill trading or giving free items to others in need.

But if you don’t like the recipe you don’t have to use it. There’s nothing stopping you from trading your items even if this recipe exists.

Sometimes maybe it’s not so easy to find someone who wants to trade, so this recipe could help then.

If you want to find items easily, Diablo 3 might be the type of game you’re wanting to play.

This entire recipe qualifies as abuse… it would make doing anything other than running Andariel and Mephisto entirely pointless. Please think through the causality of your ‘suggestion’.

Worst idea ever. I thought you had to be an adult to buy/play the game.

It’s not pointless if you enjoy it. What’s wrong with being able to play the game the way you want?

If you enjoy games where you can acquire everything in the game with next to zero effort, that’s perfectly fine. To each, their own. Others, myself included, would quickly become bored and uninstall the game.

That’s what MODS are for, not changes to the base game. If you want to alter how the game is played for yourself, no one is stopping you from making a mod for single player, or even to share with your friends, or the community at large.

Asking for a change to everyone’s experience because you essentially want to cheat enigmas into the game… totally different.

Additionally, programs exist currently that would do what you want. You can literally cheat items in… just throw your shako and P emerald on the ground, and edit in an enigma for yourself. Problem solved.

See, here’s the problem with that: it’s a multiplayer game. Game drops multiple items intended for other players. A greedy player wants them all, so that they can use this cool, new, recipe. Bad idea.

But it’s not cheating if it’s turning one item into another. It’s not making items from nothing or turning one item into several, it’s one for one. Someone already compared it to trading, and no one is against that, right?

And to be fair, with trading you could even trade one item for several other items, and this doesn’t let you do that.

You might as well have suggested that vendors sell all unique, set and runeword items for 1 gold.

I feel we’re being trolled, so I’m muting the thread. Goodbye.

take any and all suggestions and flush them down the toilet

Why so rude?

As a matter of fact, I do have other suggestions which I think could make the game a lot more fun.

was tl dr anyway we all just waiting for betas

The fundamental difference is that by trading one can obtain / exchange one or more objects.

You have the market value and also the need or urgency of the person who wants to buy / trade.

Prices will change based on time and quantity.

But what about the formula?
Does it change in real time?

In the first week you can use the formula to exchange a Shako for an Enigma.
But what will happen next?

Are you going to exchange a Shako for multiple objects using the formula?
The only thing to gain by doing that is losing the need for trade.

And at this point, what prevents you from using one of those new items to get new ones again through the same formula?

You start with a Shako and end up with 20 items without the need to trade or MF.

In the end … what is the result?
A game without soul, without fun and completely dead like Diablo 3.

Impossible, because you can only cube something that you don’t already have with this recipe.

i wouldn’t like this, but if it was implemented perhaps instead
make the recipe require 2 of the same items, and then give out one random of similar rarity.

but yeah i am against this idea either or.
