Why only in the cube? Why not just in the inventory?
The Horadric Cube should reveal the secrets of the treasure placed within:
Why only in the cube? Why not just in the inventory?
It should be just a toggle for the inventory including ilvl
As Odin is pointing out : why require the cube at all for that? Making that available in the options menu, or through the alt key would make it much more practical for everyone.
What the cube needs is to have the list of its recipes available somehow inside of the game, rather than needing to go to third party websites to look for them.
Good question. The answer is simply because of esthetics. As a gentleman of impeccable taste, I dislike the Project Diablo 2 item tooltips. Placing the items inside of the Cube to see the details is just as useful, it respects the arcane knowledge of the Horadrim, and it keeps the tooltips looking clean.
Make it a toggle or a settings thing instead then.
That remains absolutely out of the question. It is my divine duty to save the world from itself. The forces of Evil and bad taste shall be kept at bay, by my sword, today and for all of eternity.
you’re not changing anything bud.
Silence, Quill Rat. The mandate of Heaven and Hell is beyond the grasp of mortals.
you are but a zombie to me.
From the stature of Quill Rats, all other male beings appear as limp flesh.
I think this is a neat, thematically appropriate idea. It would be cool if the cube had a kind of “even more ID’d” effect on things inside it. While we’re at it, it could be kinda nice if putting items in the cube just automatically ID’d them too. It would make the cube more interesting and allow us to totally toss the ID tome as well.
Also make it 4x4.
Those are some excellent ideas. Tome of Identify has got to go!
It’s made better by the fact that the cube now has a hotkey.
I think it would be good if you had to press the Transmute button to identify items in the cube. Then you’d still get the feeling of unwrapping the presents. And it lets you keep items unid if you want.
Yes. That makes perfect sense. It is a cube after all. But the oblong shape of 3x4 conveys a sense of wonder.
The question I have is why only in the cube? Most of this information is just hidden.
That is the third time this question has been brought up.
It must mean that the reason isn’t obvious. So I will add it to the OP.
Then you’d need to put all the dropped items in the cube (because it’s better to have more information than less). Fits the lore, I know, but nevertheless super annoying for the player.
If we didn’t have ID scrolls and had to use the Cube from the beginning, such an expansion would be OK, but since we’re used to ID scrolls (2 clicks vs 5), it’d feel as an opposite of QoL…
You don’t have to put items in the cube if you have the inventory space. You can still carry a Tome of Identify and bind Identify Item to a hotkey if you want. Using the cube to identify would be entirely optional.
The cube can identify all items within with only one click.
I don’t think you need to “Super ID” very often. And the enhanced details will be hidden again once you take the item out of the cube.
