"High Traffic Windows"

If there is always a queue to login to the game, that should not be called a “high traffic window”, its just regular game traffic that these potato servers can’t handle.

These login queues are ridiculous and need to be lessened. Its clear that the amount of people playing D2R today is less than when the servers were crashing, so how could there possibly be a queue necessary at this point. Blizzard never fails to amaze with their incompetence.

No, most of the day I can log in just fine with little or no queue. It’s the mornings that are bad because all the asians are logging in to our server.

I typically play at night, and login during the afternoon. There are queues then too.

Also queues when I crash late at night (11pm through 3am EST)

Lucky then I guess, I do have moments I can log in quite quick, but those are usually between 10.00 and 14.00 (work) and between 23.00 and 01.00 on weekdays (should be in bed early day next day, am not ofcourse neglect my sleep far to often).
As for as you can say usually of course, queues haven’t been used that long, so estimation is based on small amount of data, and the fact that each weekend before servers would be crap anyway.

In the EU btw, might definitely make a difference.

There’s only a queue in the morning, it seems to be a ~4 hours window. Rest of the day: no queue at all…maybe under 10 in the evening, thats about it.

oh look another shill with a high post count…

Lol attacking post count when what he says is right…pathetic complainer.

If knowing the difference between “high traffic window” in the mornings where I have a queue of 400+ and “regular game traffic” for most of the day where the queue is 20 or less makes me a shill, then I guess I am.

What does post count matter at all? I have used plenty of those posts to criticize blizzard.

The point is not that 400 queue is higher than 20. The point is that Blizzard stated in their own words that the queue will only be in place during HIGH TRAFFIC WINDOWS.

From BLIZZARDS perspective, both the 20 person queue, and the 400 person queue are HIGH TRAFFIC WINDOWS.

So, Again, If the game is always in a state of login queue (whether its 5 people, 50 or 500), these should not be considered “high traffic windows”, it should be considered regular game traffic and capacity needs to be increased.

It baffles me that the servers are this bogged down. If this was a brand new shiny game that was super hyped up that would be a huge difference. Its a 20 year old remaster. What is the root cause of this bogging? Is it because different countries are trying to log into America? Is it because all traffic goes thru one server to get in? If Blizz would communicate with us a little bit we wouldn’t rant on the forums for days.

That is not the way they see it. They have your money. They are waiting for you to quit so they can have less servers and still the same amount of money.

It’s just an arbitrary number they set as the max players on the server at a time. It’s not like they have someone looking at the numbers and saying “Oh yes this is high traffic” or “no this is just regular traffic” all day.

im just going to log in and not even play just to gum up the works I hate this game so much anymore

This is why Region locking is needed. Asia Server is at 1000+ que. They switch to Americas and clog up our que in the mornings. As already stated.

I used to do the same when I hit que times later in the evening where I’am. I used to pick Europe and bypass the “America’s Que”.

they would just proxy

Yeah… It really blows imo. I wish they had kept region locks in place. It’s almost like there was a reason those existed :man_facepalming:

Yea, its not really there all the time.

BC, Canada here.

Midnight and on, the queue gets real dumb, and then around 8-9 am , it slowly starts clearing up. Come mid day, i have no queue at all, and i do check this regularly.

That said, The queue, and the numbers, are not quite “truthful”. There’s been a few posts around here that seem to indicate there is something ‘off’ about it. Even my own experiences seem to lean towards this.

Right, obviously they don’t have a person sitting there doing that- I never said they did. Its automated and when they detect they are at whatever fictional capacity they decided, it throws up a queue until the numbers go down. We are talking about the same thing.

What I’m saying is they need to increase the floor for what they allow into the game. There is no way in hell that there is MORE people playing now than near launch when the servers were experiencing problems. Its impossible. The limit they introduced (queues during high traffic windows) needs to be increased since the game IS in a constant login queue state, and there should be nowhere near the threat of crashing their database with a much lower player count.

Region locks don’t lead to max profit. Imagine you have dedicated servers in a region. You have to have enough servers for the peak of the day. After midnight, your servers are only being used at 5%. The region unlock lets the servers be at max all day, and in this case, above max. Do not expect a fix here. They are fine for inconveniencing everyone for 12 hrs during the weekend to not have to spend money on servers.

You’re not wrong. I’m just waiting for them to announce the monetization plan they are going for with the ladder season.

Fully expecting it, knowing how greedy acti blizz is.
