just wandering what is now the value of high runes in Ists
I saw that the Jah rune dropped badly, it was 13-15 Ists before and now about 8?
What about the other high runes?
Also where are the ber runes from trades. No one wants to trade for ber runes, everyone offer jah runes, and sometimes you really need a ber for a recipe. How nice would to be able to split a higher rune with the cube even if you don’t get 2 ber’s for a jah, but let’s say ber+ohm. Even that would be fun
You mean like starting a season with d2jsp currency and buying everything you want from the bots farming the game 24/7?
HRs have always existed in an arbitrary value system. They’re valuable because rare, and because rare, they make strong item. There’s no more logic to it than that. It’s really not a polished system at all, but it is what D2 is. Trying to find justifications for why the Jah and Ber have to be infinitely more valuable than the Ith in an enigma won’t make much sense beyond “Jah and Ber drop dramatically less often”. Then there’s cases like Jah being a rarer drop than Ber, but Ber is easily the most valuable HR. Look at Zod, you’ll likely never see it drop personally, but it’s nearly useless if you don’t want a BotD for your build, and you probably don’t.
I asked some simple questions and was also talking about something interesting that would help in game, and you both are philosophizing.
If cubing up is possible by loosing a lot of value, like 2 ber’s can become one jah, why not heaving a cube down possibility? It’s very logical and normal what I imagined. Of course the game is made in such way that you always loose value, that is why I imagined some fair cube down from jah to ber + ohm maybe.
I was not asking blizzard to make these things, I was just wandering why this was not possible from the start, and could be very useful sometimes.
But of course @Napalm had to add some offtopic replies, instead of answering the main question of the aprox value of high runes
Cubing to downgrade a rune would be a nice feature, and if it were to ever become a reality which I highly doubt, it would need to come with a sacrifice… It would have to be a 1:1 downgrade. For example, 1 Jah downgrades to 1 Ber.
If you’re thinking “Why not make it 1:2”? One Zod rune could be broken down to 2 Cham, 4 Jah, 8 Ber, 16 Sur, 32 Lo, 64 Ohm and so on.
A 1:1 rune downgrade recipe would be useful, especially for single player.
No one is philosophizing. We’re explaining why turning 1 Jah into 2 Ber breaks the HR system. Imagine finding a Zod and this cubing recipe existed. That’s 8 Ber runes. In a logical system where the implemented rune hierarchy actually meant anything, that’d be fine. The HR system has almost no logic to it other than “that’s how we did it”. It’s not a polished system, or even a well thought out system.
People forget that back in the day the rune rarity was counteracted by millions of dupes.
It made them affordable and made players enjoy different builds for years. They were still somewhat expensive but affordable. What we have now is the worst version of the game: No dupes and Immunities.
but you are philosophizing. If you saw my initial post, I was not talking about breaking jah into 2 ber. It’s normal that a penalty should be applied. I would be satisfied if you could just turn 1 jah into 1 ber as TheDarkJedi suggested.
Agree to disagree on terms, but my points still stands about the arbitrary rarity of runes making seemingly simple solutions ultimately complicated. Even if it’s 1:1, everybody would be burning runes down to Ber when they dropped. That’s to due with Ber’s extremely heavy value over any other rune.
