Help with my Magic Find Setup

I’m using Oculus and Spirit, and Gull dagger with Rhyme Shield on switch

On my Oculus switch I have 256%, and obv can clear areas faster

On the Gull dagger switch I have 331%, but it’s a bit slower

I’ve been teleporting around with occy and switching to gull whenever I gotta open chests or kill enemies

in your opinion, should i just stick with the occy switch for the sake of clearing areas faster?

Stick with the faster killing speed for everything but bosses. Switch to gull/rhyme when the boss has a sliver of life left.

You’re min/maxing MF which has value, but isn’t the most important thing. Killing more stuff faster on a higher player count is the best thing you can do. Maximizing this gets you more stuff, you don’t have to do everything perfectly, but those are more effective ways to get what you want.

You CAN swap for more MF before the last hit on a boss or even champ pack if you have the time and it will have better results, but using a CTA and boosting your damage and life and mana is better because it helps you kill more stuff faster even on a higher player count.

So, yes stick with occy, maybe swap to a gull dagger on a last hit for a boss, but upgrade to do more damage faster as quickly as possible. That means hitting higher damage numbers and the best FCR breakpoint you can. Also remember that -res is important depending on your class. You’re probably blizzard so Cold Mastery has that covered for you, but if you’re light or fire then you need -res to enemimes on your gear to get the most out of your damage.

Someone running a good build with 100FCR will find more than you will with 500MF and a bad build.

@thedarkjedi,

This is what I suspected, thanks for this

@dizzydwarf,

Shoot, I don’t have CTA yet and I prefer to roll solo. I’m online in non ladder.

Wondering, when could you do MF runs in a game and have first dibs on the loot if there are other people there?

I should’ve specified, I’m running Meteorb, because I have OCD so if I don’t farm all the areas I planned, I’ll have fomo. Or else I’d probably run a cold sorc with a sunder.

On my occy switch I got 112% fcr, decent I think?

On the gull dagger switch I got 50%, it’s not bad for just teleporting around in an area, but I definitely wouldn’t teleport around durance 2 with it.

Thanks for your responses!

have you thought about Skulder’s ?

crazy thing is, i haven’t found it yet

used to find skullders all the time back in the day

at the moment I’m using an um’d vipermagi

Some people might mind, but there isn’t a rule against who gets what in games or who gets the drop. It is nice that you’re that considerate, but you don’t have to be. Regardless you should try to MF in others games and usually they’d appreciate it. I’m sure there is also a discord group somewhere for those who farm in NL, though I’m not aware of any specific one.

As for the hybrid? I think? Now with sunder charms you simply don’t need to be a mixed build. If you get a good build going in either fire or cold or light it will be far faster than any hybrid and there wouldn’t be any sort of “fomo” as well you could always change, but nothing would be immune to you.

For a cold/fire sorc I believe 105FCR is their normal BPs. On a nova 105 is again their BP. But on a light/chain light I beleive it is like 117. Regardless you hit the good BP. So now you need to figure out how to maintain 105 AND do more damage.
