Help with map reading please

I’ve got this claw viper temple level 1 map. My assumption is that the entrance tile exits to the north east where the yellow arrow is, and the exit tile is entered from the north east as well (green tile). I thought that it’s always left of the entrance, so the exit tile should be entered from the north west. Obviously my assumption on one of the tile directions is wrong, but I’ve done countless maps like this and I always thought the entrance tile is exiting to the north east. So can anyone explain what I’ve got wrong?

I can’t figure out how to post the imgur link or a screenshot shot so bear with me…just fix the URL below (if there’s a better way of doing it please let me know and i’ll edit the post)

I didnt know that these had indicator landmarks. I thought it was just random from what informatiom ive learned about this?

claw viper temple has a directional map, level 2 will be most likely left from the entrance like your pic shows.

rather than posting the link with a space between every letter you can just do it like that:

AFAIK 3 way tiles consider their exit the center path from the back wall. So your exit from the entrance tile is down-right, so left facing is up-right

So your path is out center path, then your exit tile should be entered while facing up-right. Your doorways always face the same directions there.

Maps overlap, its called 3xLeft map. Than its to the right of enterence. I doeas not happent often. Look up WithNoFiller: Code to navigate every diablo 2 map, on YT. Tals Tomb is the worst map IMHO

Here is another way to think of 3 way tiles like that. https://i.imgur.com/tdNpJY9.png Even though you have 3 “exits” the left path isn’t the tile exit, so you can ignore the other 2 paths. The direction facing away from the wall without an exit is the only “real” exit from that tile. So you turn left after exiting the tile, not take the left door out of that tile.

You just solved a mistery for me thanks! That was the only pattern i could not understand.

Np. It’s actually pretty helpful. Basically just remember you don’t turn left until you leave the first tile from it’s “real” exit. Just need to figure out which way that is hehe.

Ive seen twice a Jungle like this: Spider Forest → Flayer Jungle → Tiny Spider Forest Again (connected only to Flayer jungle, not to town) containing Spider Cavern. I did 500 rushers seen it once and other time on YT vid. Maps overlap too.

That Tals/Viper enterence was always funky for me. Thanks

Yeah there is a ton I forget, it’s just one of those weird rules to remember for the indoor labyrinth types maps. if it’s a 3 way you are always looking for basically this.

Excuse the random painted in door lol. A lot of Youtubers I notice still get this one wrong because going out the “left” exit on the first tile is still right around 50% of the time, the other 50% though you end up taking 3 lefts or hitting a dead end. Sometimes going straight is a 2 tiles further run, but it always gets you there.

My fav weird map gen is when you get no WP at all. :stuck_out_tongue:
