Help with AMD RSR setup

Hi everyone.

I am having trouble getting RSR set up. I have enabled it in the AMD driver for the game and global settings but I cannot select a lower resolution in fullscreen mode menu (it is greyed out). If I change it to windowed mode, I can lower the resolution but then the window wont fill my screen and I have also tried running it maximised in the D2R shortcut. Also I have read that RSR only works in fullscreen mode anyway and not in windowed mode.

I have a 12700K and 6800XT runnings in Windows 11.

Hopefully, someone can help. TIA.

Seems like a giant oversight to not allow different resolutions on exclusive fullscreen mode, considering you can do it in the other blizzard games…

Might be a limitation of the game. It seems that on full screen mode it will use your desktop resolution that is set, not allowing you to change it.

RSR only works on exclusive full screen mode, not windowed and not full screen (boarderless window) mode. I think RSR relies on the desktop resolution too so you’re in a pickle with it. If RSR does not rely on desktop resolution you could change that before launching the game.

If you can somehow adjust the resolution while in full screen mode it would work. There may be something you could type in the properties of the .exe file to start with a specific resolution but I am not entirely sure. That would be my only guess

What I am referring to is right clicking the shortcut for an exe and going to properties and there is a box you can type into something along these lines for the target

“C:\Program Files (x86)\Diablo2.exe” -width 1920 -height 1080

This might put you on the right track for further research, but I don’t know if doing this automatically sets it in a windowed mode. It probably would if strings like this still work

Thanks for your help ChillinSpree.
Unfortunately, it looks like RSR won’'t work with D2R until the devs implement adjustable fullscreen resolution changes or FSR into the game.

Might also be an excuse for me to switch to a 3080 Ti

One thing you could try doing, since RSR and its game specific contemporary, FSR are designed to upscale, is to set the game’s resolution scale to 50% or 75%. That should allow RSR to work. RSR and FSR won’t work on native resolution, which is what the fullscreen mode uses by default. Set the render/resolution scale to less than 100% and you should be able to get what you’re after in fullscreen mode.

Thanks TheTias.

I will give that a try.

this doesn’t work because it doesn’t change the resolution, that’s just scaling. I already tried that.

Current Radeon added a new option for RSR : Enabled - Borderless Window, which will work with D2R. You go to the game’s profile in Radeon, and set the desired resolution, and Sharpness %. When D2R starts up, Radeon will change your desktop resolution to the desired one, which D2R will use for Fullscreen. When the game shuts down, desktop is reset to normal resolution.

I find RSR is more efficient than the in-game rescaler, as I can use a higher res and keep my 60 fps. (I use 3072 x 1728)

ok with AMD drivers always set too standard and never use their enhanced settings i doute RSR is even working right yet this is a huge issue with their drivers but meh don’t care enough to give a 2 hoots

superior rendering performance is all i care about i roast NV cards in this game at 1080P

i avg 270 FPS on a RX6700 at 1080P max settings i want too see a 3070 TI do that

if ur one of those 4k guys i dont care im gonna rock this 165hz 0.5 ms display and want twice the FPS of my hz i wish i cud have gotten a 6800XT this cripto trash too not rob me of a card this year
