I am about a Lo~Sur away from making my first Infinity offline and that is thanks to TZ Andy for dropping a Ber rune to help me tons. Since then I have tried Cows/pits/chaos etc and I am finding pretty much nothing. I know a lot of people mention to to LK chest farming for HRs (especially for offline since you can have the same map), but what /P is the best?
I have heard to run P5, and some say to run P7, and even someone said to run P8 (which is the same drop as P7?) I don’t know. If I am trying to find a Lo or Sur or decent odds on lower runes to cube up to one or both, which players is best?
Ive tracked 5200 Runs in the last few month. Every Run was on player 7. These are the drops i get:
Run 572: Gul Rune

Run 5205: Pul Rune
It depends. The chance of no drops depends both of the total number of players in the game and how many of those are partied+close to you (2 screens away iirc):
p1/1, p2/1 = 62.5%
p2/2, p3/1, p3/2, p4/1 = 38.78 %
p3/3, p4/2, p4/3, p5/1, p5/2, p6/1 = 24.05 %
p4/4, p5/3, p5/4, p6/2, p6/3, p7/1, p7/2, p8/1 = 14.29 %
p5/5, p6/4, p6/5, p7/3, p7/4, p8/2, p8/3 = 9.09 %
p6/6, p7/5, p7/6, p8/4, p8/5 = 4.76 %
p7/7, p8/6, p8/7 = 3.23 %
p8/8 = 1.64%
second number indicates how many players are partied and near you
Since you’re playing offline, the 2nd number will always be 1.
As you can see, p7/1 and p8/1 are the same. So p7 will suffice. p8 only increases monster health, their XP, but not the drops.
Thanks. I have heard of people getting repeating drops with map seeds but also heard that could be related to having a current map seed put into your settings. Idk, but I will give a shot
Duping is a thing offline too. If you are gonna hack with seeds to get a guaranteed rune drop, you might as well fabricate it by duping some lower runes, and save yourself some time.
I think the guy wanted to obtain his infinity in a more legit way. You are right tho, seeds are a way to do it, but perhaps not what he wants based on what I gather by his post.
and I told him that this is correct. I didn’t tell him he should do it.
I know of it but I don’t do it. I know of hero editors and don’t use them. I know of maphack and I don’t use it.
Knowledge about something and using or abusing it are two different things.
I know this thread is specifically about LK runs. I just can’t stand them, but I don’t play single player very often. However, it sounds like the goal is actually another Ber rune, or some combination of runes you can cube to make one.
I always recommend Travincal. I’ve farmed as a solo player online (essentially P1) and have found so many runes. I can check, but I believe 7k Trav runs on P1 absolutely blows that 5205 P7 LK runs listed above out of the water by far. Only thing is I use a Barbarian to use Find Item. In my opinion, there isn’t a better way to specifically farm runes than horking Trav. It’s insanely effective (in comparison). However, you can use any character… you can probably kill faster with a sorc or something and just save & exit for new game.
I’ve done a ton of Trav runs as a Pally as well and honestly I’ve had as much luck online doing those in P1 as LK seems to put out on P7 offline. Farmed out like 30-40 HRs on NL just doing Trav lol.
Exactly this. Maybe the general popularity or push for LK is the fact you can do it super under geared and immediately after a reset, while Trav does require some mechanism to help not dying when you are fresh on ladder…
But yes, if you’ve put in the time, you will know how almost incomparable Travincal is on a horker to other zones or methods - AND on P1.
Yep Trav + Horker = the best way to farm runes online IMO. I’d say Non horker once you can get your clears around 35 seconds a run as also super solid.
Offline LK is comparable to a Horker and probably just a tad bit better than any non horker, and needs less gear, but it’s damn boring as well so it’s a bit harder to keep going at it. It also feels less consistent for some reason. Lots of streaks of nothing for 500+ runs.
I’d say the hidden disadvantage for LK compared to Trav is you get way more gold doing Trav with some gold find equipped, and Gold = Gambling for GG circlets. I also feel you get way more gems out of Trav for crafts and charm rerolls.
Big time. I’ve found so many facets, the only SoJs I’ve ever found, multiple perfect Maras, skiller gcs, and good rare items, along with a pretty consistent rate of a high rune dropping (Vex or higher) at roughly ever ~450-500 runs on average. Sometimes you get a good streak, sometimes it’s dry for longer, but that’s my averages. The extra loot though is waaaaaay beyond what LK can ever provide you.
Then, to your point, massive gold for gambling circlets, and rolling 45 life charms or crafting amulets with all the jewels, rals, and gems you find. It’s like, rune for rune, they are incredibly close, and the argument for being able to basically do it naked in LK is great, but then you consider everything else you and I just listed and it’s far superior economically to run Trav. Plus killing stuff is more exciting, and it’s dangerous there in the beginning of a season
Tell you what though, I wish I always had the kind of luck I’ve been having on this SSF SP Fend Zon I’m been derping around on. Just been leveling it for the funs. At 84, non farming except for xp, I’ve found a Lo rune in NM TZs, a Gul off forge, a Vex off a second Meph kill (Durance 2 spawned at a 90 degree from stairs to 3), Pul and Um off random mobs, a Tomb Reaver in my first Pit Run, a Gheed’s right outside of Pandemonium Fortress while running to Izzy.
I never have this much luck lol. I feel like I’m usually like 91+ before I see anything better than an Ist. Haven’t even gotten around to anya/ancients yet… because let’s be real, SSF melee in general is hard, but man Fend zon is rough even for melee. Fun though.
Isn’t that funny? It’s like you put in a bunch of time maybe doing something specific like 1k Trav runs with Barb, then maybe Chaos running on another. But every now and then you get an urge to just break away from all of that and go with something off the meta… then you still have a bunch of fun, and find other cool things you weren’t thinking about.
I kind of did the same thing for this ladder season. I didn’t want to take it too serious and had the itch to finally play a Javazon since I haven’t played one in D2R yet. I made the decision I would ONLY make one character, and stick with it and just see how far I could take it. Could I make it to Enigma? Would I be able to make it to Griffons just by myself online?
Yes. I ended up making an Enigma, found a Ber rune in Chaos, Griffon, Tstrokes, etc. Pretty surprised, now I have a 94 Javazon basically fully geared. It was a nice change of pace, and also surprised me the things I found. 3 socket tomb reaver as well, the Ber rune, some others like Vex, lots of skillers, I found a 1% off perfect Ravenlore!
The biggest thing of all… with this Javazon on this ladder season, I straight up found my first EVER Tyrael’s Might. Also found Astreon’s (nearly perfect on all rolls), Death Web… I literally found multiple grail items on this one character by playing only a couple days a week, at low hours. I think I’ll make a s8 recap video for YT showcasing this.
I don’t know if I could do a Fend playthrough though… that sounds rough. I’d have to find some sort of fantasy to play out in my head to get through for sure I have respect for you lol
Honestly it wouldn’t be so bad if decoy wasn’t bugged. With Runewords like Hustle, Hearth and Obedience I will say melee is certainly less painful that it used to be. Helps that I had okay luck with rares/resist charms for sure. Played it on SC because yeah HC was going to be a bad idea. Actually didn’t even up dying for the first time until hell countess though.
But yeah not too bad if you go with Strength/Stealth → Strength/Smoke → Strength/Smoke/Hearth- > Hustle/Smoke/Hearth-> Obedience/Treachery/Hearth. Can pass most things down to the merc, and slap a Bulwark onto the merc.
I got pretty lucky with the Lo and made a Fort, then used the Treachery to proc Fade/Venom as a swap.
Might take a break from that character for now, it can handle some hell TZs on P3, with it’s current setup, but I think I’ll keep it on the back burner and go try another build on the bucket list. Might even toss this one down some gear just to have a chill time of it. Haven’t decided yet.
Might just make a Horker to farm out some runes to do weird stuff with lol.
Yeah I constantly has to reset the map at every WP to get decoy working again. Kind of cool thing with Fend is with a 4-5 reach weapon you can just pretty safely stand behind the decoy and stab over it’s shoulder. You know, when it’s working…
