You want to reinstate one of the most complained about features of the original D2. I would not call that harmless.
Pretty much this. Gotta keep those respec in boyz! I mean, if you want to limit yourself with out respec, by all means, don’t respec and start a fresh character each time. If you have the will power, you have that choice.
… WTF harmless??
1-5 are horrific and would utterly ruin the game
lets go over these in depth then.
-
remove respecs…
Umm??? HELL NO!!! these aren’t “handed out” willy nilly… you get three and then u need to earn them… so u missclick 1 time and you need to remake your character… in what world is that not "harmful? -
add more immunes? WTF with wrong with you… yeah lets limit the game to even fewer builds and have even LESS build variety… you know… the thing that made D2 great in the first place… the thing that made it last 20 years… being able to pick pretty much ANY skill and make a a build that could clear hell with it. this would literally ruin what made d2 special… i would honestly REMOVE ALL immunes if i wasn’t worried about the balance changes of having to rework the - resist items. d3 didn’t do much right… but removing immunties was one thing they DID do correctly… even if they made that improvement negated by completely ruining build variety, in other ways like by their stupid infinitely scaling rifts and the horrific sets that force you into specific builds.
-
ROFL… i played in those patches… i i found about 3 HR’s vex + in 10 years… rune drops need to be BUFFED, not nerfed… or at the very least move heavily weighted on monsters and less on chests
-
wouldn’t be “bad” IF :
( and ONLY if)
Blizzard implemented their own trade site like POE or POD did, but we know they wont. -
put back iron maiden? do u even know what “harmless” means? like…
like…
Princess Bride, "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means." - YouTube -
should be fixed because it a bug that negatively effects gameplay.
-
is just a LCS fix so sure
XD i mean… he was using the term by the actual definition… and you weren’t… you were using your own “personalized” definition as to what u thought it would mean for d2.
if it’s "arguing semantics"if then you would lose that argument. as you are using the word completely wrong and him using the actual definition…
Nah I admitted to reading it wrong. No biggie.
" 1. Remove respecs to make player’s decisions matter."
What is the point of the push to remove respecs? I mean, it’s not even on the table as to something that will be implemented so I’m not worried. However, I actually play D2 (unlike a lot of the people making suggestions on here) and have never seen anyone complain about having the option to continuously respec. If you don’t want to utilize that option then you don’t have to. How does it negatively affect you if others choose to use the feature?
Considering the amount of time it takes to level a character into the mid to high 90’s it only makes sense to be somewhat lenient with respecs. The original inability to respec was one of the biggest design flaws of the game. My decisions don’t all of a sudden not matter just because I don’t have to throw away characters and restart if I end up changing my gear or my entire build.
A big part of Diablo 2 is the progression you make with your character. Whether it be through gear, levels, or experience from playing. As you acquire better items, grow in levels, and gain more knowledge of how to build/play your character you will want to make changes. I once had a level 98 Paladin that I reset stats on probably around 30+ times. I was always getting new items and wanting to alter my build to make it the best that I could. That is part of the fun of the game in general.
With limited respecs it basically becomes a punishment mechanic for choosing to try new items and/or builds. This type of thing is even worse if you are into PvP where focus on gear and proper stats becomes a priority. I feel like the people who suggest changes like these are those who only play single player and are completely out of touch with the actual player base.
- I’d rather not, but it wouldnt be the end of the world if they did.
- Playing physical builds is already harder than casters because 1.10 greatly increased mob health and defense and the synergies for physical attacks are nowhere near strong enough to compensate. Magic immunes, sure.
- I don’t think this will be necessary if blizz can keep botting to a low enough level.
- Doesn’t affect me, I don’t really care either way.
- god no. Sorry but I did not like one shotting myself on normal because a monster applied IM halfway through whirlwind or zeal animation.
- I agree.
- I never used channel spells anyway, I don’t care either way on that one.
-
i wouldn’t mind , i mean i rarely ever respec, but i don’t think removing respec would make player’s decision matters more than now , it would bring more frustration than anything and remove a reasons to farm some bosses as well.
-
more physical immune would be pretty bad, melee are already wayyy underperforming compared to ranged magic classes, that would make the game even more imbalanced which would be a bit dumb in my opinion.
More magic immune would be ok though , considering there isn’t much magic immune which is why blessed hammer always comes as the top build everywhere sadly. -
not for nor against it , whatever for me.
-
why not , doubt it’ll do anything though.
-
barbs and all melee characters are already underperforming as it is, why make it even more imbalanced ? once again , i would agree to make things more difficult for ranged classes , but for melee ? really ?

true , inferno seems way better than what the tip says.
here’s my view on them all , though personally i wouldn’t view it as harmless change , and it doesn’t make the game “more authentic” if you want it authentic you should ask for diablo 2 1.0 where you couldn’t give equips to merc etc… but yea , no one would want that , for good reasons.
