Griswold Set Use?

What am I supposed to do with this?

PvM or PK foh or to troll ppl in PvP before they take abs.

I had fun doing an Avenger play-through. Since Vengeance uses base weapon damage to scale off of, off-weapon ED isn’t considered, but integer damage from items is. So since I didn’t have any facets and didn’t want to trade for them, I focused on getting to the fastest 9FPA break point, my resistances maxed and then adding as much integer damage via jewels, rings, and charms that I had just laying around or found along the way.

9 FPA, single target, and no teleport makes him somewhat slow/plodding by nature, but with charge/vigor to add some mobility, and pretty decent damage, I found him fun to play in P1 to P3 games.

Here’s where he ended up. I did decide to splurge on the sockets in the scepter

Dont do this, Ave is terrible char, my fIrst fav char from D2 1.0, still BAD and I still w8ing for some strong BUFFS :star_struck:

I assume your response is to the OP, since I already did it. It’s a slow and steady, 1 enemy (often 1 click 1 kill though) at once attacking build, but it’s tanky, with perma-charge/vigor has decent (for non-enigma/sorc builds) mobility and doesn’t care about enemy resistances. It’s not going to win any speed clearing awards but I find it oddly satisfying to play.

I made the build not out of a desire to play Avenger, but as a desire to use full Griswold’s set, which seems to be what OP was asking.

I made a cheap Holy Shock zealer in the past with the griswold set ( plus the IK gloves / belt / boots combo, the Angelic Ring+amulet combo and a Ravenfrost for the CBF)

4 shael in weapon + the 25% IAS from the IK pieces gives you 4 frames zeal

3 Eld in shield + the buff from Holy shield gives you max block with minimal dex investing

5 P-Topazes in armour + helm + IK pieces Boots + Gheed gives you ~200 MF

and it’s dirt cheap, i got all the items for ~ IST because no one wants the set (the only expensive piece is the Torch, but that’s another discussion).

It’s tempting to put facets in it, but is just not worth it. Use the set for a cheap Pit farmer until you get some $ and then build something else.

I am missing the redemption piece… had it but lost it somehow

nothing spectacular about the set imho

: )))

Back in the day, a 4 socket griz scepter was one of the best items you could use for a fury wolf or fire claws bear. Unless for Fury you had a super GG fanged knife rare. I whole heartedly miss this.

The 4 pc set is a solid set and not necessarily bad. It’s just the same thing with anything now a days, grief is better, enigma best, yadda yadda.

Sometimes it’s fun to just play what sounds most intriguing.

fully agree about grief, enigma, hoto, etc…

it just that I am not a druid or a pally

have not played the set

: )

Okay so I have made the character, unfortunately I don’t have 9 lightning facets yet so I used some other runes and gems in the gear for now.

But what I did was make it a FoH + Holy Shock + Zeal/Smite hybrid

I put 20 in Holy Bolt, 20 in FoH, 20 in Holy Shock, 20 in Resist Lightning, with full Griswold set, Torch, Anni, Crack of Heaven Sunder, along with Steelrend gauntlet, Thundergod belt, and Gorerider boot, with Ravenfrost ring, a 10FCR rare ring, and a Cat Eye amulet

I basically just FoH and then Zeal/Smite with Crushing Blow and strong Holy Shock damage for bosses or tough enemies

I have 75 all resist and 90 lightning resist even with the Sunder charm, because I put 3x PDiamonds in the Shield

This seems like a nice and natural way to use this Griswold set, it seems to be able to do anything
