I upgraded from an old RX 480 to an RX 6600. You get a few free good games and at max load it only consumes 100watts of power using a hardware monitor.I went from having to using a 70% 1080p resolution with a lot of medium settings with 45-50 fps in d2r to everything capped at 1080p with 100% resolution scaling and the GPU is only sitting at 40% usage with capped 60 fps all the time cause I have it capped at 60.Its only 239 USD if you have a bestbuy near you and only has a power supply requirement of 300 watts. Its good if your after rtx 3060 like performance on the nvidia side bar ray tracing. ive just seen some people on here with problems running the game and the rx 6600 is a pretty efficient card when it comes to power consumption
Less than 45 FPS on Medium is unacceptable.
During the crypto boom, the scalpers bought all available cards, raised prices upwards of +200% MSRP… The greedy crypto miners bought them anyways. Most gamers were left out to dry.
Post crypto boom… Nvidia be like “We’re the scalpers now.” Gamers are still left out to dry.
I still have my 1080Ti… Still a fantastic card for 1080 gaming despite being 6 years old. Yeah it doesn’t have hardware raytracing, but I don’t really care about that enough to upgrade. Not planning on upgrading until the prices come down. From the looks of it, that could be a while.
Cryptocurrency, IMO one of the most successful ponzi schemes of all time.
I dont even really like AMD GPU’s but I typically look at performance per dollar with power efficiency and temp all sort of mixed.yeah I know and the RX 6600 isnt made for ray tracing either and I also think it doesnt have hardware ray tracing but I could care less.GPU prices have dropped dramatically for most of it,but I would never buy a used GPU from around that time(which is a loose term cause this is like the 5th crypto boom causing cards to rise in price) cause a lot were used for crypto mining.I mean the MSRP for the RX 6600 was 329 and I got mine new for 239. the 1080ti is a little more powerful in raw horsepower 5% ish better fps in games but consumes more than double the power and the temps reflect that, and I had to get an efficient card in power consumption. If I cap some games at 60 fps with vsync the 6600 uses around 35 watts of power and hovers around the 48c mark sometimes the fans dont even turn on cause it has the temp monitor when to kick on the fans, and never gets above 62c without a fps limiter or aka vsync. Its just a good card for people with meh systems not rocking some 750watt 80plus gold power supply
