GPU Overheating

I have games more GPU intense and for some reason this is the only one that Overheats my GPU, specially on the select character screen. I hope you can find and solve this issue.

If by “overheat” you mean “runs the GPU at its regular maximum temperature”. Then yes, it does, and there should be optimization they can because it should not be necessary to run it that hard.

If you mean it literally overheats, then clean your damn computer.

This is what’s happening with everyone. For some reason this game is forcing GPUs to run beyond their maximum temperature, which then forces the game to crash. It happens on every level of setup. Brand new setups with watercooled systems that don’t overheat on the most CPU/GPU intensive games crash all the way down to people using the lowest settings and framerate possibly. The GPUs are literally overheating because something is wrong with this game.

Sigh, no mate, the game can’t magically make a GPU overheat. If it overheats then it is either dirty or the cooling method is installed incorrectly or defective. End of story.

Also modern GPUs run HOT. As high as 90C (and sometimes even higher for specific models) is normal and acceptable but even in those cases people just need to adjust their fan curve as the only reason it is getting that hot is because the fan isn’t running at 100% because they are designed to run hot.

Blizzard even admitted that the game is inadvertently causing the GPUs to overheat, Sigh mate. And your response shows you know nothing about overclocking, which is presumably what this game is causing GPUs to do which puts more voltage on the system than it can handle causing it to overheat.

try locking the framerate in the options settings.
maybe 30 FPS or 60

The game is overclocking the GPU’s eh?

I don’t need to say anything else, thank you for that comment.

I already capped the frame rate and turned on the Vsync but still the GPU heats so much in D2R… Still thanks for the tips! I hope other people that have the same issue can try this!

Idk if mine is overheating but the fans do turn on to what seems like their loudest setting after playing for a certain time, or loading a few zones, or lots of enemies and players on screen, etc. And then eventually, it will crash. I have game at 60 fps lock, reach the recommended requirements, game runs smooth looks great, and yeah this is the only game I play which does this to my computer making the fans go so loud, idk what’s wrong with the game but I’ll keep playing regardless of the damage it’s doing to my components lol, they really should be fixing that though, optimizing, whatever it is they need to do that is making the fans go so loud or so hot in so many systems.

I’m going to say it like this,
I’ve seen others complain about this kind of thing on other popular games and it’s usually related to the users hardware. Some games will say ‘run the graphics card as fast as you can’ but doesn’t really improve things. For this, you can get a system monitoring app and literally monitor your temperature and speed.

usually its a user attempting to run a game using an ancient computer , with outdated drivers. Sometimes it’s laptop guys looking to turn an ex cyrpto miner into a gaming pc…

it’s always somebody who doesn’t communicate well though. 100% of the time

The game is causing GPU to draw more voltage than it can handle causing overheating leading to crashing after 5-10 minutes of play. You’re very welcomed for being taught.

My gpu also get pretty warm running d2r. Usually between 65-75c.

My setup is

5950X
64G ram
Asus dark hero
Full custom loop ekwb d5 pump with 2x 360mm radiators
XFX RX6900XT ekwb water cool edition

Other games that require higher graphic run much cooler.

looks like that is below the standard operating temperature for a rx6900xt (max 110c)
what is the ambient temperature in your room?

even water cooled systems can’t cool below room temp lol
you need AC in the room. This is why server farms are climate controlled

he specifically wrote that the game charges the card too much, much nicer games go better, something is wrong with Diablo ressurected, fix it

What does the graphics card do after it it is done charging?

Ok so the problem is fixed. I guess it wasn’t a problem.

I lower the resolution from 3840x2160 to 2560x1440 and temps dropped little over 15C.

I mean diablo 2 R still a demanding graphic game and running this high resolution is going to raise the temp.

But playing at 3840X2160 on a LG OLED is just mind blowing.

Even on undervoltage this graphic card is pulling 330W. Default settings I am seeing close to 380W. Pretty beast of a card.

You must be a young with no knowledge of how processors/gpus work when doing code. This thread is 100% correct and is causing alot of issues with alot of people. This same issue happens with me and 99% gets used and then 60% on legacy graphics which i dont use no where near on standard LOD even with glided wrapper. There is something wrong with the overlay causing 100% GPU usage for no reason.

So, did you not read my very first reply to this thread? At least make an effort to read the entire thread in the future.
