I am very excited. :slight_smile:

I thought I might explain why.

Diablo 2 was my first PC game I ever remember playing.
I was at a friend’s house, and I was amazed about how life like the characters actions where, as I had only just seen a super Nintendo. But this game was so much more amazing than even Final Fantasy IV. Which at the time felt like the peek gaming escapist experience my little 11-year-old brain had ever pondered.

I was a poor kid though in the hills of Tennessee, moving in with grandparents after my mother got in trouble in Florida. I disagreed with the strong confrontational bible belt and other ‘southern agendas’ of the times that all took me by surprise after the move. I became an introverted sort-of-edgy kid that somehow got his hands on a NES. Anyway jump to 2000 and my best friend who I will call E, and was 3 years older then me let me try out this brand new game for a full hour on his moms new gaming PC! I was so excited it makes me smile just to recall. I created a necromancer, because I have never even heard of being a necromancer as a character in a videogame and it was pretty edgy as well.

I remember how intense it was to run though, because it was visceral and as I ran into the den of evil I then found a cross bow early on that had 3 open sockets, then I found an emerald as well as a sapphire followed by a topaz as I rushed that hour down! I knew this would be the only hour I would ever get so I dumped those babies into that boltcaster and crushed the Blood Raven and the tomb’s she guarded spectacularly with that bazooka while skeletons tanked it out for me and did work themselves. My friend watched the whole time giving me side notes and cheering me along as I made what I considered, outstanding progress. Honestly one of the happiest days of the childhood. I really want to take the time to thank you for that. And Tell you, any that has read thus far… that now, 22 years later, I’m once again excited to see the well considered changes you all are bringing to the game.

It was pretty fun to write a paper, but unlike in college, I could use I as much as I like. :slight_smile: You seem nervous Grizz, what’s the worst that could happen? I’m playin necromancer anyway so I really got nothing to worry about. (Except I would like to run a throw barb in hardcore.)

I was just funnin’.

I’m not worried in the least.
I mean, things probably won’t go smoothly – patch day never does for any game – but that isn’t going to ruin my day.
As much as I love D1 and D2(R), there’s plenty of other stuff that has the potential to ruin my day long before a video game could.

Edit: By the way, I wasn’t trying to diminish your story with my jest. I was 28 when Diablo (the first one) was released (my first home video game was Pong, back in the 70s), and it (Diablo) remains my all-time favorite (D2:LoD a close second), so your sentiment resonates with me.

For sure, I mean, I work a full-time job, on night shift. I probably wont get a chance to check it out till 1Am on the 15th my time, but I was still excited and felt like it was a good feeling to share. I mostly just play solo anyway also because it always felt better to be self found to me and connections typically a problem anyway. Been running a fishy-necro solo and got him to almost 60 now with basically zero gear. haha I am pretty excited to max out some iron golem though and try that out and I read from another fellow that it felt nice, and those remaing points after CE going into bone shield always felt cringey for me.

And I would really love to run a summon druid, and before mentioned hardcore Throw barb. I’m not sure why, but I always loved playing a throw barb in hardcore even before the buffs.

I play solo offline, myself.
I haven’t made any grand specific plans for new characters, yet.
I’m never in a huge rush; I just like playing.

I highly suggest trying out a summoner and stacking some thorns at least early. :slight_smile: I have a pretty crazy plan for a ladder necromancer I’ll be running.
