I’ve seen the amount in my stash lower drastically on several occasions, losing all the gold earned in a game.
Not sure if Blizzard is aware of this, but it’s kind of annoying.
If you die in NM / Hell gold will vanish, the way it is & has been.
Fill your shared stashes first then the characters personal one, to stop the gold from doing magic tricks.
if it’s your personnal stassh and you died it’s intended to work that way you lose a part of it each time you die.
it’s not related to a death, I went from 357K to 140K within the same game, didn’t die once
if it’s your personnal stash you can also use the money into a shop but other than that I don’t see, maybe a bug

I would stash my gold, go to the vendor and see the amount before stashing my gold. Then I go to my stash and the amount I deposited vanished.
so you bought things from the vendor then? or just talk to vendor look at stash 
I bought mana pots… I can’t buy 217K gold of mana pots in case you’re wondering.
Are you 100% sure you didn’t accidentally put it in the wrong tab as each tab is separate and only the regular one is available at vendors?
Then you didn’t have enough gold on your person to buy something
Do you have a piece of gear with spell charges on it? Those can be incredibly pricey to repair.

that’s the one, didn’t notice every tab had their own gold count

Mine disappears like that often, usually accompanied by a trip to Gheed.

Glad you found it, I’ve done that a lot of times.
Shared tabs is a good place to hide it from the death tax man…
