I agree on a loot filter, BUT only a simple loot filter for common items, and it only hides the item labels. It must be both useful and simple to use for everyone in the game, veterans and newbs alike. The item on the ground stays visible and can still be clicked on to pick it up. None of this special loot filter coding to specify item attributes, defense values, socket counts, etc. gobbledygook.

  • Gold (If auto pickup is enabled, honestly who cares about the exact amount.)
  • All Low Quality items
  • Health potions [select max grade potion and below to hide]
  • Mana potions [select max grade potion and below to hide]
  • Throwable flame potions [select max grade potion and below to hide]
  • Throwable poison potions [select max grade potion and below to hide]
  • Scrolls [select TP, ID, or both]
  • Ammunition [Select arrows, bolts, or both]

While rune stacking would indeed be great, it very likely won’t happen due to both duping concerns as well as the inability to address the issue from the game code limitations. However… I wouldn’t at all be opposed to a special stash tab that allows banking of both runes and gems. I would GIVE UP a shared stash tab if they brought fourth a shared gem/rune tab that could store for example 5 of each grade gem and rune. Any extras beyond that would have to be stored like they are now.

Ehh I don’t like loot filters. Much of why I hated PD2 and PoD.

The very least they could do would be to combine identical potion labels… The biggest problem is the item label spam covering the whole screen hiding potential goodies, and health and mana potions as well as gold are the biggest cause of the problem…

For example, if there are 6 Super Mana potions on the screen, instead of showing 6 individual Super Mana Potion labels, instead show Super Mana Potion (6). If you click the label to pick one up, the label (#) will drop accordingly, and the position of the label may change depending on the average center of the potion locations. If you move your character to reveal more or hide potions, then the (#) will fluctuate as well.

As far as the gold labels, if Auto Gold is enabled, there should be an additional option to hide the gold labels… The piles themselves are highly visible to see where to run over… The pile size gives a rough estimate of how much gold there is.

Really you don’t need to do much to massively improve the display of ground loot. You don’t need any codes, abbreviations or combining, all you need is an item type display priority listing. Things at the top display first, things at the bottom display if there’s enough room.

  • Quest Items: Khalim’s parts, Meph’s Soulstone, etc.
  • Special Items: Keys, Essences, Tokens, etc.
  • Runes
  • Runewords
  • Uniques
  • Sets
  • Crafted Items
  • Rares
  • Magic Items
  • Gems
  • Socketed/Ethereal Items
  • White Items/Ammunitions
  • Potions/Scrolls/Tomes/Keys
  • Low Quality Items
  • Gold

That would make sure the important stuff is always seen.

TBH all we honestly need… is an option for smaller label font. The text is just too big, even for my half blind self.

The game has a font size option in the menus… I’m pretty sure it also adjusts the item label sizes.

The only options are pretty much Too Large, and OMG Why?

Well still, I think consolidation of multiple potions of the same type into one label would be a great help… Dungeon Siege does this, and it’s only a couple of years newer than the OG D2.

Ehh I find digging through the pile part of the fun tbh. I just wish the text was like… a quarter the size it is.

Quaffing potions to see what else is there is fun?

I mean that really only comes up when horking cows/trav, and then the fun is listening to the drops. :stuck_out_tongue:

Even that’s preventable by not just killing them in one pile for the most part. It’s WAY less of an issue than it was in OG D2 with the auto gold pickup.

Honestly, I don’t get why you would complain about the addition of a decent loot filter, as long as there are options for easy access (like a few pre-made filters, or an optional way easier to use, not as complete, filter).

Make it 3 different pieces of information to filter on, and you’re set : item class (axe, sword, key, rune, …), item type (crystal sword, el rune, perfect topaz, …) and rarity (normal, magic, rare and unique).
For example : Hide class axe rarity magic, display type mal rune, etc…

And then for the simple access version, simple toggles and sliders for some item types.
For example : Health, Mana and Rejuvenation Potion sliders, Gold, ammo and scroll toggles, etc…

The point being that even simply basic filters can make loot a lot more comfortable, and players interested in something more complex can spend more time to tailor it to their needs.

PS : Fixed gem name. Was remembering french name pre-Resurrected.

What is a pure topaz? I’m not new to the game but I’ve never found one of these.

I have to admit that I don’t have strong feelings towards getting a loot filter. I’ve gotten pretty good at screening the drops and have caught a good number of highly valuable items that other people missed. It would be great QoL, sure, but the little demon on my shoulder doesn’t really mind it the way it is. :supervillain:

My loot filter is moving around to look for different coloured items. When that doesn’t because of the map lay (the Throne) I quickly pickup all the potions and rapidly consume them, that leaves all the gear showing. It works and all I need and want. I don’t even use auto-gold pick up as it negatively impacts my D2 LoD game play.

It’s just part of the game as far as I’m concerned. Again I’ve played games/mods with filters before. Hated it. The games braindead enough already. Let’s not remove any more player skill/interaction.

Alternate solution. We reduce all drop rates by 75%. Then there wouldn’t be a reason to have a filter. I’d 100% be down for that. Cause as a NL player you start running out of stuff to farm a bit fast tbh.

if you guys dont want loot filters its because you dont play melee class. melee need to click on the monster to kill it. when there are too many drops, I cant hit the monster unless i inadvertently pick up the item. Plus, I really dont want to see useless drops covering 80% of my screen.

/nopickup helps in that situation. You won’t be able to pick up items unless you hit your keybind to show item labels.

just tried it. does not really help because I always play with show item labels so I can grab the loot the fastest. when you play a melee build, its almost inevitable that you end up clicking on the item. for melee builds, we really need a loot filter.
