In original D2 when you returned the Gidbinn to Ormus and he placed it on the pedastal it would glow like this:
Original D2:
However, in both D2R and Legacy toggle graphics it does not glow. Here’s what it looks like for each respectively:
D2R Legacy Toggle:
D2R Graphics:
Perhaps it’s not a bug and more just a stylistic/artistic difference, but I’m posting it here just in case.
Relevant info:

D2R

It’s the case of perspective If You had perspective on in Original D2 ( Direct3D mode) Giddbin were also missing the glow on the pedestal. additionally direct draw mode was cut in a certain patch, and only Direct3D was available. the only way to fix this was to run Original D2 with a glide wrapper and -3dfx launch parameter it then ran in glide mode, which additionally ommited the 200 framrate cap added with the patch that dropped DirectDraw support… the cap was added to prolong batery uptime on laptops and ppl were generally using glide wrappers for better graphics and no framrate cap.
As for How it is right now in D2R and D2R Legacy display modes ( all three of them actually) i haven’t checked. due to RAM and VRAM limitations i tend to play on lower than maximum graphical settings in order not to crash the game/ fry my GPU, so I can’t tell you how it looks like when fully enhanced visually. but i do remember it sucked whe i switched to perspective mode and the orb was mising the dagger inside
I didn’t have perspective enabled, and DDraw support was removed in 1.14.

I checked with D2R fully maxed graphics and I also turned off DLSS and it was still dark for both. I checked with all 3 Legacy emulation modes and it was still missing unfortunately.
well that’s a bummer i did like the dagger beeing visible in the orb…
when I launch D2R on low settings the dagger is somewhat visible but like You’ve said it ain’t glowing
My bet is Blizz based D2R and D2R:Legacy on Direct3D version… cuz it’s the only version In original D2 where the display of the dagger is screwed.
