Have been playing resurrected for the holidays, and started having fun with bowazon, got to Duriel on Normal at around level 18 and he 1 hits my mercenary and then 2 hits me, this after I pre chugged about 6 healing potions. This happened 3 times in a row, and it’s insanely hard just to get your stuff back when he can 2 smack me. Watching videos on YouTube, bowazon easily tanks duriel. What the heck am I doing wrong??

Without knowing your gear, skills and attributes it’s tough to tell. Also pre-chugging healing potions does nothing, you can only be at max life and anything past that is wasted.
Try chugging 6 to 8 thawing potions before entering into Duriels chamber. Give that a shot and let us know how you do.

ah. yes. Duriel is so incredibly hard to solo for some characters especially in normal mode for fresh starters
I’d argue you would want to be mid 20s before hitting him up, unless you’re getting carried.

Get to level 21+.
make a Zephyr Bow
make a Stealth armor
gear your lvl 20+ merc with stealth runeword, 2 socketed ruby helm, and make an insight runeword.
Hunt for rejuv potions.
Keep your merc potioned up during fight. if it gets close to dying, use unlimited TPs.
get to 25 while doing that go to act 1 and spam countess till you have enough runes and can make Nadir, Zephyr, Stealth and Strength (make this in a polearm) all bases can be bought at vendors in a1 or 2 use zephyr on yourself and give an act 2 merc the nadir stealth and strength

Give the best gear to merc. Cube all small rejuvs into Full rejuvs. Gamble most damage javelins/pilums/whatever you can at your lvl. Run around till Duriel focus Merc. Once he does feed merc Ful Rejuvs while throwing javs at Duriel

Thanks for replies everyone, I levelled up to 20 freaking 2 and hoarded ice gear and managed to do it after 3 merc res lol I hate Duriel
Like everyone said always save up some rejuvs before duriel, check horadric cube crafting recipes to make your merc some gear. Or just ask someone to kill him for you…

Level up more, preferably to 24 in tal rasha tombs so your mercenary is also 24. Buy the one with defiance aura. Buy thawing potions healing potions and gather some rejuvenating potions. Try to buy some decent armor and weapon for merc, armor with good defense and with sockets and place rubies there. It would be great if you have 3 rals. Elzix of fara sell 3 socket spear or scythe, buy that and place rals there.
Use several thawing potions on you and mercenary and then keep using healing potions on him when he is tanking duriel. You shoot from distance.
