What is the best way ro farm for gear (mf or generally decent gear)? I have a blizzard sorc at around 70 and a lvl 27 hammerdin i started just to see if i could get sunder charms. So far, I’ve only played solo, so I’m not thinking that’s too likely, lol.
I’ve tried running “farm” zones repeatedly, filling up and then selling everything, keeping an eye out for specific gear I’ve read was good for my sorc (and now pally), but have yet to find one thing of real use, other than halfway decent mf items. Even gold gear has been pthht.
Do you ignore blues and just go for golds? Is it better to join parties (and hope the other puggies are fair, or just grab what you can)?
And some gear supposedly drops more often in normal mode because the item list is smaller for this or that boss. And some uber mf dagger is supposedly a decent chance when gambling with a lvl 10ish toon. Are these true for console? Because if so, my luck really stinks.
Anyone have decent tips/tricks/suggestions for soloing, or tips on how to find decent parties?
Thanks!
Nightmare / Hell Countess is a great farm spot to start.
Lots of runes for some cheap, good mid level runewords.
And farming Mephisto, Diablo, Baal, and Cows.
Preferably on Hell difficulty, but if you can’t- don’t fret, Nightmare difficulty does have some godly drops.
Yeah, I’ve run a bunch of countess runs. It’s not so much where to farm I need advice on as much as how to farm. Do i keep blues to sell and keep rinsing and repeating, or ignore blue items and speed run for the golds? And is it better to join pugs? I tried one or two on my switch and that seemed like everyone was just doing their own thing…no communication, i couldn’t even see where the others were exactly…it seemed pointless.
Until you get a Cold Sunder Charm, a Light Sorc will make mfing much easier. – Hell Countess is easy enough and if you need med runes she’s good. You should really try Hell Andy though, she has one of the best drop rates for many great items (Vipermagi, Shako, SoJ, Ali Baba, Titans, Chance Guards, Gold Wrap, HoZ, Magefist, Raven Frost, Sandstorm, SoE, Oculus, etc.) – If you do Countess runs, be sure to turn left from the first hallway on each floor, it’s the easiest way to find her. – If doing Andy, from Cat. lvl 2 WP, turn right to find Cat. lvl 3. – Also for easy MFing try looking for the circle of torches in Lower Kurast, there is a building above and to the left of that area that has ‘super chests’ in them. Basically similar loot to killing a high level unique enemy. – If you want to Gamble (good for Circlets/Amulets), be sure to make an Edge runeword to cut the prices down before you invest millions into it. – For the most part, yes skip Blue items, even most Yellow ‘rare’ items. If you have a bad helmet, amulet or bad MF gear, Blue items might be worth picking up for now though (Blue boots/gloves/rings can offer good MF%, Blue Amulets/Circlets can offer good +Skills). – Also, keep Pgems (especially Amethyst), Ral runes & Jewels; they are easy to find and if you bulk up you can trade for some rarer items or low-end ‘High Runes’ such as Mals or Ist. – Also keep in mind that Rune drops apparently do not take your MF% into consideration, so if you can kill them efficently, Cows (due to high volume) are a great way to look for High Runes, otherwise when MFing be sure to kill all ‘ghost’ mobs as they have a boosted chance to drop Runes. – I do not know if MF% effects the level of Runes dropped by the Countess specifically though, or if MF% effects loot in the ‘super chests’, so you’ll have to look that up… Happy hunting.
Also, this should be obvious but higher player count in a world does greatly increase your MF%, so if you can handle the higher strength mobs it would be worth it to follow a series game around, such as (Baal, Chaos games) then MF in your favorite spots. – MFing with others isn’t worth it, unless you know them… it’s just a race to grab what you want, even if someone doesn’t need it they usually wont drop for others, just sell in the store… If you do fight for loot in group games when killing Baal or Diablo though, be sure to hotkey the ‘grab item skill’; its much more efficient then tapping the preset action / regular attack button.
Im not sure exactly what you meant by follow a series game around, (and what are chaos games?), but are you saying to go into a server with several people in it (to get better mf chance) and doing my own thing away from anyone else in that server? That idea i like…I just didnt know if there was unwritten rules and I’d get kicked. I appreciate all the advice, all of you. I did already see somewhere that mf does not affect chests or runes. Thanks for the tip on edge…I wish i knew that 2 mil ago, lol (and STILL no Gull drop, lol).
Chaos games are where people farm the Chaos Sanctuary. You’ll often seen something like KZBaal01, KZChaos01 or KZCows01; these numbered games are what I mean by series. They’re often made by a host that is going to continue making more (02, 03, 04, etc.) and farms the named areas and when cleared makes the next game. – Joining these games are usually okay to MF solo in, as the host is strong enough to lead the charge in their named area. – If you join a random game, especially one where they’re completing quests to progress in, yes it would certainly be rude to make their experience harder without helping them and to take their bosses away lol. But, you could always do that if you really felt like it… they made the game public after all. From what I can tell on consoles you can’t even kick players. If you’re on Xbox I’d be down to MF with you, let me know.
A lot of great advice here guys. Thanks!
It’s kind of a dick move tbh. Back on PC where most of those games were run by bots, sure it was ok. But It’s pretty selfish to join to player made games and do something other than what the game was made for. Especially if you are playing on switch where only 3 other people can join. They can’t kick you, but they can hostile you.
I’ve tried joinining dwitch games and found it totally chaotic. People were either standing around in town or in different zones. I left and went back to solo. How the heck does anyone organize anything on that platform? And on the xbox, I’ve joined a couple games that i figure were farm runs (like had baal in name) and they dropped from the server right after i joined. I was like…i know i showered today…whered everybody go??
Oh, I really like this idea
The best way to farm gear is to be able to trade and communicate in-game like with a chat… so sign the petition again yo
