Game disconnects my entire internet

Hello guys,

Description of the issue

  1. When playing D2R, after some time I get an error message “You have lost connection to server” (or something similar). When this happens, my entire internet (on 2 PCs, on TV, all hardwired) just shuts down.
  2. The disconnect happens randomly, however I have observed it is increased after 16:00 EET (Europe server)
  3. All of my hardwired devices drop their internet connection. I’ve observed this on my second desktop PC and on my TV.
  4. This issue happens only when playing D2R. I’ve tested with other games - Guild Wars 2, Heroes of the storm, ESO, Destiny. I have no disconnects and my internet connection works fine

What I’ve tried:

  1. Update of the network adapter drivers. Latest version, issue persists
  2. Run continuous ping using WinMTR to eu.battle.net for 1 hour - no packets lost, no connection interruption.
  3. Update graphics drivers on GPU, issue persists.
  4. Check windows firewall and reset it in order for D2R to be added again. Issue persists.
  5. Check router firewall and disable it. Issue persists.
  6. Check switches, cables and all Rj45 connectors. No issues found.
  7. Reinstalled D2R. Issue still persists.
  8. Close all background tasks, run D2R only. Issue persists.
  9. Started monitoring router processing and traffic while playing. Ram usage of the router is below 70% all time, CPU reaches 2% at maximum.
  10. Checked windows event viewer for any information about applications not working on any sort of warning/errors being thrown by D2R. I found nothing.

So far, it has been 2 weeks where this issue is happening. I cannot play for more than an hour, sometimes even less. Can anyone assist with finding the root cause of the issue?

A follow up on my initial post.
After I submitted the issue, I had 2 disconnects for 2 days. No changes on my side. However, I have discovered something else. When playing the game, the RAM usage of the D2R process starts at 4GB and after an hour, it goes beyond 8GB, and the whole game starts stuttering (small lag spikes). If anyone else has seen a similar issue - share it.

UPDATE (16/06/2021): Recently I started to get a lot of disconnects. So I browsed the forum for some suggested fixes. This thread - Fix for "Cannot connect to Server" helped. I’ve renewed IP addresses and flushed dns. So far after ~6 hours of gaming, I have gotten no disconnects. Might be a coincidence, might be a solution. I’ll keep you posted.

UPDATE (23/06/2021): For some reason the disconnects have stopped. I’m not sure if the solution above resolved the issue or if Blizzard changed something.
