Friends list direct join

So, I see there’s two places where the user can check a box to allow friends to directly join multiplayer games. Yet… I cannot figure out how to have a friend directly join my game, nor join theirs. Where is this feature, did it just get half-implemented, was it a remnant from when cross-play was considered to allow console->pc to bypass lobby name/pass, or something else?

Hello? Is this thing on?

You do it from the lobby. It took me a minute to figure out and I really hope the lobby, game list and social aspects see some improvement.

How do you do it from the lobby without having to manually type in the game name and password?

You click the icon next to the chat box, go to friends list at top, then right click their name and click join. It’s how I always join my friends so I can bypass typing out all the game info.

Holy nutballs that’s convoluted, and well hidden.
Can we get a sticky on this?! Jeez.

Heh. A few days ago a friend apparently figured out the process of joining my game. Only I didn’t see him join. No sound. No toast. No nothing. Chat? Every line of chat is that bland tan color that blends in with so many of the game’s areas I didn’t even notice. He thought I was shining him off most likely.

There is literally [b]nothing[/u] intuitive about joining a friend’s games. I’d go so far as to say that virtually every social interaction that is in every other Blizzard game is flat out missing or tragically screwed to the worldstone and back in D2R. I felt like dirt after I saw my friend’s message to me in the Battle.net app. Had he not messaged me there I’d never even have known he was in one of my games. I can’t imagine it’s any more pleasant on the console side either.

To say the social underpinings of D2R weren’t ready on launch is a galactic understatement. They’re flat out nonexistent for all intents and purposes. :frowning:

So I’m gonna necro this as my search engine dug it up for some reason…

Keep in mind, you have to RH click ON THE D2 icon on the left of the friends name.
(Can not just click on the name in the middle.)
Why? Who knows…
