For those having graphics issues after patching

So, I am seeing a lot of people had the same issue I had, I logged in after patch to check if all was okay as I am really waiting for ladder, and jumped into a game and noticed it kinda stuttering and it went down to like 25 fps, something I never had before.

This is how I fixed it, go into video settings in game and check the box that allows the game to dynamically change video settings on the fly to keep a constant 60fps.

It’ll just change down things like shadow settings and other such things, turning them down or up as needed and as you play, you won’t even notice it, it was a complete fix.

Go to ACT 2 rocky waste and watch the game hitch around like a bozo on high end hardware, and change any setting you want it wont change ANYTHING at all.

Sorry man I don’t even understand what you just said, no offense.

This is a thread for people who might be having issues since 2.4 went live, myself included. I found a fix, and I am sharing that for other people who might be looking for one. Quite why this has triggered you.

Have a nice Bank Holiday Monday.

i play on a 2015 macbook pro with windows os partitioned and i have better frames now and can play in max resolution instead of 1280x800 so i’m happy with whatever they did (:

[_] Feature Disabled in Multiplayer Beta
Well at least they acknowledge this is a beta.

Biggest issue I’ve found when doing things like Baal runs seems to be coming from Druids, especially Hurricane for some reason seems to be de-optimized or something compared to how it used to be (idk).

If players here in this thread have been playing since launch and have not reinstalled the game, they really should consider doing so. The game’s filesystem becomes fragmented, causing the same data files to be read multiple times due to how its indexing system works. Reinstalling the game gives players a fresh contiguous install that is no longer fragmented and which will run optimally in terms of data accesses.

The downsides to doing a reinstall are real though. If you have slow internet it can take a up to 2-3 hours to reinstall. I do realize not everyone has gigabit internet like I do and can’t download at 112 MB/sec. The other downside is the data cap issue. 30 GB doesn’t seem like much unless you also stream a lot as well. Then your data usage becomes something you actively need to watch. A final downside is that you must delete the PTR and/or Beta D2R installs as well or else those fragmented installs will be copied back to the Live (Retail) folder before the final patching begins, thus defeating the purpose of doing the reinstall in the first place. The silver lining to deleting the PTR/Beta folders though is that those are almost completely copied from the Live folder when you “reinstall” those branches.

TL;DR: Fresh reinstalls speed up the game a lot more than you think it does if you haven’t done a reinstall in several patches.
