FoH-Smiter gear priority

Goal is to kill dclone myself. Longer term would like to be able to do uber

Currently lvl 76 with maxed Holy Bolt, FoH, and Holy Shield; 1 point in Conviction and Fana

Gearwise got nothing, because I started it in ladder…

  • A Spirit sword
  • Random +40 all res pally shield
  • Stealth / Smoke / Que-Hagen
  • GFace (thanks Wally) / Lore / Peasant Crown
  • Up’ed death belt
  • Sander’s boots
  • Anni, no Torch (obviously)

Looking at FoH Smiter Paladin Build BiS Gear and Runes - Diablo 2 Resurrected - Icy Veins and Smiter Paladin Build BiS Gear and Runes - Diablo 2 Resurrected - Icy Veins it seems many options but no idea at what point my pally can kill dclone

  • Is lvl 76 good enough? Or what is an ok level with budget gear for dclone? 80? 85?
  • Black? Strength? Or Spirit Crystal Sword works?
  • Random elite shield? Spirit Monarch works? Also have a 60ed pally shield 0os, but no idea how many sockets I get from Lazurk
  • Duress, Treachery, or Lionheart needed? Got runes for Treachery (thanks Archaic)
  • Sander’s gloves work? Or at least LoH?
  • Goblin Toe needed?
  • Death belt has cannot be frozen, so I guess am good there, with crappy ammy and rings?

Replace boot with goblin

smoke armor is fine
Bloodfist glove or any 20 IAS glove

For uber you can add these

  • Dwarf Star
  • Tgod
  • Life Tap charges wand

If your goal is only to kill clone then I did it many times on my HDIN until I leveled smiter.
You pretty much use Lvl1 smite + conc aura. I put on Nature ring, Dracs, Gface, Gtoe, Dungo. I didn’t have HoZ back then to used m Paly spirit. Other ring was raven for “cannot be frozen”. You also can use Dwarf but put Duriel Shell. Weapon was hoto but if you have 3os flail black will be enough. This build not going to work for uber Tristram.

thanks for all the help! prepare to try this out soon, but realize I don’t have prevent monster heal - do I need it? and does it get proc by smite? (or I need to attack and hit first?)

W/o prevent monster heal you can smite him longer as hdin. It’s not needed if you spec’d as smiter. You’ll get it when you have your grief.

Im level 85 foh smiter.

I got highlords, shako, drac gloves, treachery, gores, tgods, dwarf and soj

I use unique weapons heaven light for smiting and hand of blessed light foe foh.

With this setup i killed dclone last night and i just ran ubers for the first time with this character. I should have used a gface but i was able to kill everything with a shako on.

I was able to kill all ubers easily and dclone was nothing special.

If you cant get this gear then some other options are
Goblin toes, gloves with ias. Life tap wand, armor with resist ( treachery is awesome)

I have a spare blessed hand of light if you want. Add pongpongking#1169

did not work out. here is the setup, and buying TGod and LoH soon but no idea if they help

  • A1 merc with Insight, Rattlecage, and Tal helm. lasted 10s
  • use Life Tap wand, smite and pally’s HP holds
  • I think dclone got to 1/10 HP quickly, then it stopped moving
  • Did not equip Blackhorn helm to proc prevent monster heal
  • Pally died in a split second, I guess Life Tap expired

  • 65ED Sacred Targe
  • Smoke Dusk Shroud
  • GFace
  • Death hand and belt (+30IAS)
  • Goblin Toe
  • Dual Dwarf Star

Hi Zhongli,

Get dracs if you cant afford an exile. Drac will proc life tap but exile is pretty quick to proc life tap. Almost died a couple times waitingfor life tap to initiate with my dracs. Tha k goodness for full rejuvs.

Im not sure if laying of hands does much unless it has crushing blow on it. It has ias but for smite we need crushing blow, open wounds, prevent monster heal.

I have an exile in non ladder which usually procs immediately at 15% chance compared to dracs with 5%. But dracs does have open wounds.

Sorry i couldnt help you with dclone last night. I knocked out and was afk fishing for dclone.

nah, no worries, you already helped a lot!

can’t afford dracs in ladder yet, I guess it would cost Ist or so? does smite trigger dracs Life Tap? or do I need to do normal attack in the middle? according to Amazon Basin they seem to proc with smite (no need for normal attack)

LoH has +350% damage to demons and I thought that’s useful, could be wrong. checked and it does not have CB

Laying of hands is only useful to zealers and other melee build plus amazon bowazons and javazons. The loh is not work with smite

U need open wounds, crushing blow and/or life tap.

I would use venom grips and the life tap wand. As for weapon u need something with ias, crushing blow, prevent monster heal, and other mods useful to smite. These will transfer to yiur shield attack.

Get a hoz if you can as well. I csn hook you up with a hoz shield. Let me know. Just message me.
