I heard that Flickering Flame is still able to be made, but just exclusively in ladder. I had thought that it was a Season 1 exclusive with all the people upset when it didn’t go to NL.
Can anyone confirm that this? (not a cheap RW, esp for people who play mainly solo)
Since there were no new runewords for Ladder season 2, the new runewords released for Season 1 remained exclusive to Ladder.
It is my understanding that once they release new runewords for “the next season”, whenever that may be, the previous set of new runewords released for D2:R will then be unlocked for non-ladder.
Thanks, I’m seeing on Diablo Wiki that it is “Ladder Only”. Wowhead says the same thing. Hm, been saving my Vex for HotO reroll, but I may just roll one of these instead (when I tested fire sorc on SP mode, it seemed underpowered compared to lightning and cold with sunders, but maybe the key is FF RW.)
And it makes sense now, when I saw people selling FF’s, I thought, “why would you want to sell a one-of-a-kind item”, esp at the prices they were asking. But as they are not,
Season 1 was a major set of class balance changes and runeword additions… Season 2 was a game play addition/improvement… In addition to smoothing out “under the hood” issues and bug fixes with every update, it’s possible that their update “schedule” might alternate between class/item improvements, then gameplay additions/improvements.
Time will tell.
I can confirm that currently if you attempt to make Flickering Flame on NL you will be staring at a gemmed helm and not Flickering Flame.
It was a bit of an unfortunate surprise, so I imagine that S2 ending will see a lot of FFs come over to NL and drop prices. Of course, once they add a new set of Ladder-only runewords, all the previous Ladder-only words should become available to create on NL. Presuming, of course, Blizzard decides to do so.
